Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSeeking associate attorney with current or recent experience practicing civil litigation, (seeking 3+ years), preferably in the areas of malpractice defense, employment defense, business litigation or personal injury.
Experience taking and defending depositions and with written discovery, motion practice, legal research and oral argument.
Compensation & Benefits Base Compensation: $130,000/yearMonthly Billable Requirement: 154.
2 Net Hours Billed (NHB) (annual: 1850 hrs)Net Hours Billed: the total hours billed out to clients on work performed by associate, net of carrier reductions or firm adjustments.
Incentive compensation: $1000 bonus/month for each month that associate exceeds 154.
5 NHB.
Payable within 35 days of end of calendar month.
Benefits: (1) healthcare plan (PPO) with firm paying up to $400/mo (no cash equivalent for non-participation); (2) malpractice insurance; (3) sick and flexible vacation; (4) approved CLE reimbursement; (5) paid parking, conveniently close to office; (6) pro-rata monthly reimbursement bar dues following proof of payment by associate.
QualificationsCivil Litigation in CA state and federal court (preferably at least 3 years).
Experience in mediations, depositions, attending court appearances and oral argument; reviewing/summarizing medical records preferred;Independently maintain caseload while procedurally advancing cases and prioritizing deadlines;Self-starter, accountable, punctual, excellent communicator, team player, multi-tasker, hard-working and creative;Proficient in legal research, issue spotting, drafting of memos, pleadings and letters, motions, discovery, providing strategy and recommendations to defend cases;Maintain excellent professionalism at all times; andJD degree, admission to California Bar in good standing.
Associate’s work shall be performed under the general guidance of supervising attorney(s).
