DESCRIPTION:

  • The Sr. Planner/Buyer plans, leads, and implements activities related to the timely and cost-effective procurement of direct and indirect materials, capital equipment, utilities, and services.
  • Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels.
  • Responsible for negotiation, contract development, supplier selection and relationship management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Oversees the purchasing of services and supplies including machinery, equipment, tools, and raw materials.
  • Establishes clear and defined communication paths between purchasing, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Executes the organization's strategic procurement goals and objectives by leading negotiation efforts with suppliers.
  • Evaluates price trends, new products and manufacturing processes to establish cost reduction targets.
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and performance factors of critical suppliers.
  • Sets up cross-functional teams to achieve improvement within the supply chain.
  • Identifies supplier non-conformances when they occur and participates in finding the solution to the non-conformance.
  • Deploys the Quality Management System as it applies to the scope of work.

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.

  • Highly Skilled and Experienced in Strategic Sourcing, Negotiation, and Material Planning.
  • Capable of identifying internal and external schedule disconnects, taking action by calling meetings with required functions/personnel to negotiate actions necessary for effective resolution.
  • Data driven / results oriented with a high level of initiative and a desire to make a positive impact to the organization.
  • Knowledge of and working experience with ERP, inventory control and MRP systems is desirable
  • Ability to solve both practical problems and interpret and communicate complex issues
  • Detail-oriented, well organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical, computer, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires excellent time management and prioritization skills to effectively react to and anticipate the needs of the business
  • Experience in make-to-order, customer-specialized manufacturing is desirable
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional technical procedures, engineering drawings, or government regulations.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices is a plus.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make thoughtful decisions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of education or experience to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential job functions.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience, 3 of which must be in a similar role leading a supply chain department or team.
  • Progressive experience in Supply Chain, Operations, and or related technical field desired.
