<p><strong>Animal Shelter Custodian</strong><br /> <br /> <em>NOTE: Animals include dogs and cats, but also wild and farm animals like horses, chickens, snakes, pigs, etc. Handling the animals is not required, but it is recommended you not apply if you have a fear of animals.</em><br /> <br /> <strong>GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Performs routine custodial in the care and cleaning of animal shelter and grounds; does related work as required. </li> </ul> <p><br /> <br /> <strong>TYPICAL TASKS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Clean animal pens and common areas</li> <li>Removes old litter and cleans/sterilizes litter pans</li> <li>Clean kitchen area of animal food prep</li> <li>Sweeps, mops, and cleans all floors as directed</li> <li>Cleans and restocks restrooms</li> <li>Periodically cleans windows</li> <li>Maintains facility for litter and waste control</li> <li>Reports unusual animal behavior, feces, or vomit immediately to Shelter Supervisor</li> <li>Assists in washing all laundry, blankets, towels, washcloths, etc. as needed</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p><br /> <br /> <strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to utilize a wide array of custodial chemicals; general cleaning chemicals</li> <li>Ability to safely operate custodial equipment (vacuum, etc.)</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively</li> <li>Ability to follow instructions</li> <li>Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter data/retrieve data</li> <li>Human relations skills to build effective working relationships</li> <li>Ability to work around animals, including smells, fur, etc. No known allergies.</li> </ul> <p><br /> <br /> <br /> </p>
