Operational Buyer/Planner

Job Description

Department: Operational Material Management

General Purpose of the Position:
Use your skills and experience in a high paced, dynamic Global Operational Material Management Organization that is responsible for getting the right parts to the right place at the right time.

You will manage the availability of material through the proper material Master Data setup, capacity planning, and purchase order management with internal and external suppliers.

You are responsible for
• Leveraging Operational Inbound Supply Chain Management to control and assure a continuous material flow of purchased parts leveraging ERP data
• Close collaboration with strategic suppliers to achieve an excellent operational performance and KPI improvements
• Collaborate across OMM functions such as planning in regards to material risks
• Leverage buying strategies to align with overall supplier agreement strategy
• Analyzing ERP demand (current and historical) and MRP signals and translate this into a supply plan
• Place orders with suppliers based upon ERP triggers and tracks order confirmation, monitors open order position/exceptions, expedites if needed, and update SAP with current dates as required keeps SAP updated
• Identifies material shortage risks and takes action to mitigate
• Performs inventory analysis in regards to order volume, usage and potential risk for shortages, excess and/or slow moving
• Executes Supply Chain Management master data set-up and maintenance in SAP based upon strategic supplier agreements and other relevant order related attributes
• Executes Product Life Cycle management and analysis in regards to part status and impact to inventory
• Execute windchill tasks as they relate to item enrichment for new/phase in and/or phase out of parts
• Manage return orders to suppliers based upon NCMR and/or ECN dispositions of material
• Represents Purchasing in cross functional team projects to meet the key objectives


You are a part of
This Operational Material Management (OMM) team is based in Latham NY. You are responsible for all aspects of Inbound Supply Management which includes Supplier Management, Inbound Supply Chain Processes, Supply Planning and Operational Management. We’re embedded in the Integrated Supply Chain Organization.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
• 5+ years of raw material or finished product buying experience in manufacturing environment is required
• SAP experience is desirable
• Inventory analysis experience required
• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment
• Good analytical and problem solving skills leveraging excel
• Effective communication
