JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Overview: The Registered Nurse coordinates the plan of care, provides direct age-appropriate nursing interventions, and patient education by collaborating with ancillary and other patient-team personnel.
Directs LPNs, CNAs, and ward secretaries/technicians.
Works under the supervision of the nurse manager and/or nursing supervisor.
Specific to the Family Center, the RN provides comprehensive, family centered care in the areas of antepartum, low and high risk obstetrical patients, medical/surgical patients, well newborn and selected high risk newborns.
Essential Functions: a) Uses acceptable standards of practice based on nursing process and theory to help the individual/family/group with complex and unpredictable needs.
Identify and meet basic age-appropriate health needs.
The nurse coordinates care of the individual/family/group using a multidisciplinary holistic approach.
b) Promotes a climate in which consumers can act in their own interest or intervenes when they are unable to do so.
c) Uses the nursing process and theory to provide age-appropriate individual/family/guardian/designated surrogate education using a wide range of teaching activities to promote health.
d) Works to achieve desired health care outcomes by effectively utilizing human and material resources.
e) Is accountable for the ethical, legal and professional responsibilities related to nursing practice across all roles, within the scope of practice.
Qualifications & Skills: a) Education: Graduated RN, ADN, diploma, BSN nursing program, with a current or pending Colorado nursing license.
b) Training and Experience: BCLS required.
NRP required within 6 months of hire.
STABLE and Fetal Monitoring recommended.
c) Job Knowledge: Encompasses a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communications and problem-solving, assessment and prioritizing skills
