POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer position is a key member of the Procurement team and will work with our Operations and Engineering teams to:
• Establish a stable and secure supply chain for our complex electromechanical assemblies. He/she will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies that are focused on reducing cost and lead-times while ensuring a high service level for both the manufacturing operation and field service organizations. This individual should possess strong analytical and organizational skills, should have a background allowing them to effectively source electromechanical components. A key aspect to this position is the ability to successfully collaborate with our internal customers, Engineering, Inventory, Planning, Service, and Manufacturing, as well as our external suppliers and third party subcontractors. This position will be an active participant in new product development and must be team oriented. Significant experience working closely with the engineering community to concurrently develop products using a product life cycle process is preferred.
• Support the Global Poultry site in areas of financial reconciliations, invoice payment discrepancies, internal cost allocations. It also provides effective interaction with suppliers, finance, customer service, Corporate functions SAP.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Geographical Sourcing from Canada to USA for Automation Spare Parts
• Negotiate / Leverage spare part spend Automation and Biodevice product lines for best cost / value.
• Develop/ Execute RFP’s for total landed value
• Analyze MRP (Material Resource Planning) data to ensure appropriate stocking levels are achieved.
• Participation in engineering change process, transition management (obsolescence, updated material specifications, etc.), support on analyzing BOM usage accuracy, and knowledge of technical specifications
• Monitor usage rates and quality issues, as well as analyzing and adjusting safety stock levels as needed to optimize material flow.
• Maintain all SAP master data within MRP and purchasing system. For new materials, work with new part numbers and manufacturing to determine master data.
• Generate a “buy” plan, including all materials required to support the production plan.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of SAP MRP system, planning, purchasing and quality applications.
• Participate in gap analysis, development of business processes, training and documentation.
• Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, in support of manufacturing operations
• Ensure suppliers meet quality, delivery, service and cost requirements by monitoring performance and initiating appropriate action when supplier deficiencies are identified.
• Continuously improve the performance of the materials supply base by supporting the use of supplier management tools such as the supplier report card and commercial meetings.
• Execute purchase orders to support the manufacturing plan with component suppliers, third party manufacturing suppliers, and sub-assembly providers.
• Monitor supply vulnerabilities and implement plans to insure continuity of supply.
• Manage commercial relationships to ensure reliable supply and appropriate resolution of any disputes that arise related to supply.
• Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
• Manage financial and system reconciliations related to purchase orders, invoices, etc., and troubleshoot problems to ensure resolution
• Liaise with Engineering, Customer Service, Procurement and others to establish suppliers in SAP, Ariba and other systems.
• A key aspect to this position is the ability to successfully collaborate with our internal customers, Engineering, Inventory, Planning, Service, and Manufacturing, as well as our external suppliers and third party subcontractors.
• Also interaction with finance, customer service, and corporate functions (GFSS, Ariba, Computron, etc),

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Indicate the formal education, certification or license required and/or preferred. Include the minimum number of years of relevant experience required for the position (where legally permissible).
• BA/BS degree in business supply chain, engineering, or related area preferred;
• CPSM or CPM preferred
• 5+ years experience in purchasing, planning, materials management, manufacturing, or relevant technical/analytical discipline
• Experience in supplier management
• Solid understanding of analytical measurement tools as well as an understanding of accounting and financial analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with integrated Purchasing Systems (JDE, SAP, ARIBA, etc);
• Strong written/oral communication skills
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, financial reporting, and legal aspects of procurement
