Job Description

The Cloud Solution Architect will work with the NASA Human Health and Performance Directorate Enterprise Architect, to provide sound technical leadership driving the NASA Human Health and Performance Information Technology group's strategic direction and growth. They will also work closely with application development and infrastructure teams to define solutions architecture to meet business needs and to document and optimize the technology flows supporting the business. The Cloud Solution Architect, in partnership with other leaders, will establish the technical vision and roadmap to realize our infrastructure goals. If you are a highly motivated technology leader with management or leadership experience, and have a successful record of driving transformation, implementing new business applications with complex technology integrations on time, on budget, and with high stakeholder satisfaction, we'd like to meet you!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules, and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
• Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies, and procedures
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels as determined by the Company
• Complete all assigned training
• Gathers customer insights including feedback around technical preferences, environments, and business needs, and maps architecture and digital transformation solutions to customer business outcomes. Adapts business models, plans, and solutions to insights.
• Leverages and champions an existing architecture approach to achieve agreed commitments to the customer. Identifies growth opportunities based on knowledge of customer needs.
• Receives and synthesizes data about customer business and technical requirements, addresses them with technical architecture(s), and demonstrates and proves those solution's capability and business value through design collaboration sessions with the customer.
• Leads customer projects that implement technical architecture(s). Provides thought leadership for technical architecture design, development, and deployment and supports/drives the customer throughout pre-sales and/or implementation.
• Identifies, escalates, and works to resolve technical blockers (e.g., changing configurations, sample coding) to accelerate architecture implementations and routes non-technical issues for removal by the appropriate party.
• Adapts methodology and applies governance to identify, communicate, and minimize business and technical risks. Defines customer conditions of success, adheres to quality assurance, and calculates risks while designing and/or delivering solutions.
• Develops and expands existing impactful relationships with customer architects and technical specialists, technical decision makers, and business stakeholders.
• Respectfully challenges customers/partners when going in the wrong direction and escalates appropriately.
• Shares ideas, insight, and strategic technical input with technical teams, and internal communities across the organization using a thorough knowledge of specific cloud products and their context in the customer landscape.
• Participates in external architect community events (e.g., conferences, seminars, technical meetups, Webcasts, blogs, hackathons) and shares learnings with the internal team. Acts as a mentor to junior colleagues to educate them on technical and non-technical concepts.
• Evaluate tools, technologies, and POCs related to technology modernization.

Required Skills
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation and consultation skills for confident interaction with senior management.
• Experience as the Project Manager or Lead on Cloud Migration & Operations
• Experience answering high-level technical questions without a dependency on additional technical resources
• Exceptional strategic planning, leadership, and change management skills.
• Exceptional problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Ability to balance between most ideal and most pragmatic solutions that meet business needs.
• Must be a team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.

Required Education
• 10 years managing and architecting technology solutions for government customers, or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies
• OR equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience with planning, migrating, and operating a Cloud Service (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Experience with development, management, and reporting of operating and capital budgets.
• Proven track record of success in leadership positions

Required Experience
5 years of experience with planning, migrating, and operating a Cloud Service (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
10 years managing and architecting technology solutions for government customers, or equivalent experience.

Desired Education and Skills
• Previous experience in managing a technology solution architecture organization at NASA, or other Federal Government Agency.
• Experience in leading a team and applying all elements of technical consulting to achieve successful outcomes.
• PMP Certification
• Certification in a Cloud Platform: AWS (preferred), Azure, Google Cloud
