Job Description

The Director, Actuary is responsible for leading new business underwriting of commercial value-based care contracts. This teammate will manage a small but growing actuarial manager and analyst team responsible for validating and transforming data receiver from external payers, modeling the economics of new contracts, and developing recommendations on pricing to our payer partnerships team. Duties also include enhancing enterprise risk management capabilities, applying predictive models, researching health care industry trends, and developing and delivering executive-level presentations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-encompassing:

  • Lead new contract actuarial underwriting process, from data transformation to final recommendations to business leaders
  • Manage teammate productivity and performance within new business lane of
    the client actuarial team
  • Support enterprise risk management process and capability development
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • At least 8 years of relevant actuarial experience
  • Extensive actuarial modeling experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint and other
    applications
  • Strong track record of managing actuarial analysts
  • Proven experience in actuarial project management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) Required
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
