Position Description :
EVS - Associate

5 FT / 2 PRN available

Position Summary: Under general supervision, performs environmental services necessary to maintain the hospital in an orderly, safe, sanitary and attractive condition. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cleaning of patient rooms, patient support areas, surgical areas, offices and ancillary departments per department policy.

Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient's harm.
Attends in-service presentations and completes mandatory education week, including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aide and Blood borne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety).
Adheres to hospital/department dress code.
Wears unobstructed name badge at all times while on duty.
Is knowledgeable of the need to report actual and potential patient safety issues to their supervisor and/or through the facility occurrence reporting system as evidenced by verbalizing examples of reportable patient safety issues and appropriately submitting occurrence reports.

Primary Responsibilities:
Performs daily cleaning of patient rooms per policy by emptying trash/linen, cleaning and/or spot cleaning all: contact items, surfaces under 6ft, furniture, equipment, fixtures, dispensers, trash cans, stainless steel, glass/mirrors, doors, walls and other patient room items with the approved chemical for each object.
Performs discharge/transfer cleaning of patient rooms per policy by organizing the room, emptying trash/linen, high and low dusting, detail cleaning of designated items, cleaning all parts of the bed, all contact items, furniture, equipment, fixtures, dispensers, trash cans, stainless steel, glass/mirrors, doors, walls and other patient room items with the approved chemical for each object.
Performs daily tile floor cleaning in patient and non-patient areas per policy by utilizing wet floor signs, dust mopping and mopping the floor, removing debris from corners and edges and changing mop solution per policy with the approved chemical for the floor.
Performs daily carpet floor cleaning per policy by using the vacuum daily in traffic areas, sweeping edges and corners periodically, mopping baseboards periodically and spot cleaning stains as necessary.
Performs weekly detail cleaning as scheduled by high dusting all surfaces over 6ft., cleaning corners, edges, baseboards, kick plates and door bases.
Performs daily restroom cleaning per policy by using correct chemicals, cleaning fixtures, dispensers, trash cans, stainless steel, sink, shower, mirrors, toilet and toilet base.
Checks and refills as needed all paper towels, toilet paper, and toilet seat covers and soap in assigned area daily.
Performs daily cleaning of ancillary areas per policy by emptying trash, dusting all surfaces below 6ft., cleaning desks, tables, counters, chairs, phones, sinks, doors, walls, fixtures, dispensers, stainless steel and trash cans with the approved chemical for each object.
Performs daily cleaning of all surgical/sterile areas per policy by thorough disinfectant cleaning of equipment, tables, walls, fixtures, dispensers, lights, trash cans, doors, sinks, stainless steel and other contact items with the approved chemical for each object.
Follows all policies/guidelines of handling, transporting and segregating regular waste, bio-hazardous waste and linen.
Maintains cleanliness of EVS closet, carts, buckets, wringers, vacuums and floor equipment.
Properly dilutes chemicals and utilizes solution centers for all other chemicals designed to be dispensed through them.
Reports patient room cleaning to the Bed Tracker program to maximize efficiency of patient flow.
Reports observed needs for engineering repairs/requests to provide a safe work environment and pleasant atmosphere.
Reports observed needs for project cleaning work including, but not limited to, floor stripping/scrubbing, curtain repairs/ changing, carpet cleaning, buffing, etc.
Continually follows policies to ensure a positive image by routinely policing assigned area to ensure a good first impression with clean hallways, walls, floors and EVS cart.
Routinely turns in work assignment sheets and signs departmental forms.
