2-night



Job Knowledge

1.Perform high dusting procedures on horizontal and vertical surfaces.

2.Perform low dusting procedures on horizontal and vertical surfaces.

3.Perform damp wiping procedures on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Pay particular attention to corners, edges, and baseboards.

4.Perform dry mopping procedures on hard surface floors.

5.Perform vacuuming procedures on carpeting.

6.Perform vacuuming procedures above floor surface using a back pack vacuum.

7.Clean windows and glass.

8.Assures all surfaces cleaned are left free of streaks and smears.

9.Perform spot cleaning and disinfecting procedures on vertical and horizontal surfaces such as night stands, patient bedside tables, chairs, telephones, window sills, etc. with germicidal solutions.

10.Arrange furniture in a neat and orderly fashion in office and patient care areas.

11.Dispose of bio-hazardous waste according to state and federal guidelines.

12.Empty wastebasket containers and damp wipe interior and/or exterior waste paper baskets with approved germicidal cleaners. Re-line waste paper baskets.

13.Apply restroom procedures to assure patient restrooms, public restrooms, and staff restrooms are clean and disinfected.

14.Replenish restroom supplies in patient, public, and staff restrooms.

15.Spot clean stains in carpeted areas.

16.Continuously be aware and inspect the condition of the environment you are working in and correct any obvious discrepancies in appearance.

17.Promptly respond to and clean discharged rooms entered into the bed tracking system. Prioritize rooms based on “regular”, “clean next”, or “stat” status.

18.Adhere to bed tracking policies and procedures for inputting rooms into the system as in-progress and promptly entering rooms as “done” once completed.

19.Adhere to all cleaning step descriptions outlined by the Esct computer system.

20.Complete daily checklist of all areas cleaned on daily Esct assignment sheet.

21.Complete all work assigned by the Esct system on a daily basis according to established time frames allocated.

22.Actively gives input regarding job assignments relative to policy and procedure.

23.Always wears hospital identification badge in a visible location.

24.Adheres to department dress code at all times.

25.Demonstrates accurate interpretation of policies and procedures through performance of job responsibilities.

26.Immediately informs supervisor of incomplete tasks or tasks which cannot be completed within established time frames.

27.Communicates problems, workflow, opportunities for improvement, and other relevant issues to supervisor. Advises supervisor of equipment/supply needs.

28.Perform any other environmental service task as assigned by the supervisor.


Equipment Usage

1.Demonstrates proper utilization of supplies and equipment and does not misuse resources.

2.Notifies supervisor when supplies need to be ordered with appropriate lead time to ensure supplies are available at all times.

3.Obtain appropriate floor equipment, supplies, and report to assigned floor. Carefully inspects all equipment before use to determine safety worthiness.

4.Routinely demonstrates competency in the use and operation of equipment.

5.Return equipment to department clean and in working order at the end of the shift.

6.Maintains equipment according to manufacturer specifics (i.e., replaces dust collectors, splash guards, etc.)

7.Notifies supervisor when equipment begins to malfunction due to age or over use.


Information Management/QI

1.Demonstrates proper utilization of supplies and equipment and does not misuse resources

2.Demonstrates an awareness of standards by identifying deficiencies and immediately informing the Environmental Services supervisory staff.

3.Continuously improves service outcomes that impact patient comfort and health by awareness of the “Idea Cycle” and commitment to improvement that is consistent with the hospital mission, vision and scope of service statements, with a commitment to excellence.

4.Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of Advanced Directives as evident by scoring 80% on the general orientation test section related to this topic.

5.Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of Performance Improvement as evident by scoring 80% on the general orientation test section related to this topic.

6.Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of Risk Management as evident by scoring 80% on the general orientation test section related to this topic.

7.Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of Environment of Care as evident by scoring 80% on the general orientation test section related to this topic.
