Description:
  • Develop, communicate, and monitor the annual station preventative maintenance work plan in assigned region of responsibility.
  • Build the yearly station preventative maintenance work plan for client in collaboration with local field teams and in adherence to internal maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Continuously monitor the completion of compliance driven maintenance activities via quarterly reviews of implementation plans.
  • Build and deploy financial metrics based on Station Preventative Maintenance work plan.
  • Support the review and adherence of customer/generation interface agreements.
  • This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
  • ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
  • Acceptable alternatives are (1.
    a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the Client (2.
    a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
Sponsor station asset failure projects.
  • Assist in the decision making process to determine if an equipment issue is a failure and how it needs to be mitigated, including determination of appropriate accounting, engineering resources, and spare equipment resources.
  • Engage and coordinate with multiple stakeholders in the successful mitigation of station asset failures in assigned region of responsibility.
  • Be a proponent of existing failure restoration processes and secure funding for replacement of failed equipment through the appropriate asset renewal programs.
  • Lead the identification of capital spare needs.
  • Ensure that capital spare inventory levels remain above the expected confidence levels in assigned region of responsibility.
  • Periodic inventory review of non-capitalized station spares (i.
    e.
    distribution circuit breakers, distribution regulators, etc.
    ).
  • Support advancement of existing capital sparing strategy for an improved management of the client capital spare fleet.
  • Sponsor capital rehab programs in accordance to the reliability and financial goals set by client leadership.
  • Metric creation to help prioritize the replacement of P&C assets and obsolete equipment.
  • Support in development of policies, procedures, standards, and/or guidelines related to station assets and station asset management.
  • Effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of station assets and station data in database of record.
  • Support the review and cleanup of compliance/non-compliance related IPS attributes and actions.
  • Periodic asset software data review for proper classification, quality, compliance and completeness of station assets.
  • Contribute, support, and communicate asset software enhancements.
  • Train field personnel on data entry.
  • Metric creation to help in the management of station asset malfunctions.
  • Populate and manage the creation of needs identification checklists for the proactive rehab of client stations within assigned region of responsibility.
  • Support client with all accounting obligations associated with O&M and capital activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of transmission and distribution electrical power systems and the role of substation equipment in its safe and reliable operation.
  • Understanding of electrical substation equipment including power transformers, circuit breakers, flexible AC transmission systems, reactors, capacitor banks, regulators, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical maintenance and testing strategies for substation equipment such as transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Understand key differences between transmission operators, regulatory transmission operators, generator operators, and independent system operators in the electric power market.
  • Experience in development of annual equipment maintenance work plans.
  • Working knowledge of asset management platforms such as IPS, MAXIMO, and Project Wise.
  • Understanding of basic principles in project management and the EPC contracting arrangements.
  • Certified Engineer-In-Training working towards Professional License.
  • Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.
