Engineer IV, Electronic Engineer

The Electronic Engineer IV is an individual contributor with a high level of autonomy and impact, who leads and participates technically in the creation and extension of electronics for products within Omnicell's Automation and Robotics product lines. Success is accomplished by the broad application of electrical engineering, principles, theories, and concepts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze electronic requirements against design, time, and cost constraints
  • Develop functional specifications, architecture, detailed designs, schematics, and PCBs
  • Create conceptual designs and engineering prototypes
  • Design products for serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability
  • Create and execute test plans based on design requirements and technical specifications
  • Support manufacturing and vendor issues
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with timely completion of tasks
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems with products
  • Support service department as required to resolve complex customer issues

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven successes creating high reliability / high speed electronic designs for regulated industries, with prior experience designing with uControllers.
  • In depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and approval processes: UL, FCC
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross functional collaborative relationships.
  • Results oriented and disciplined, while still comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, with electrical engineering or related degree
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Proven successes in bringing complex electronic designs from concept to release

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience developing FDA approved medical devices
  • Experience with FPGA's and CPLD's.
  • Experience developing embedded C/C++ firmware for uControllers
  • Prior experience developing mechatronic / robotic products
