*Steel Toed Shoes Required.*

-Hours – 10 pm – 6 am
-Days worked: Monday – Friday (10 pm Monday night – 6 am Saturday morning)
-Must have skills
o Good communication skills - both oral and written.
o Basic analytical skills.
o Critical thinking skills.
o Ability to work safely.
o Ability to get along with others.
o Ability to take direction from Lab Supervisor or alternate.
o Basic computer operations.
o Should be able to handle simple arithmetic and algebraic calculations.
-Education? If so, what type of degree?
High school/GED with relevant college courses (chemistry) or previous analytical lab experience. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/Biology preferred.

A note for the Days/hours worked is that this position will initially start off Monday – Friday 8 am – 4 pm for training purposes. This will last for 4 weeks and then the individual will transition permanently to the overnight hours listed above. However, the overnight hours could be switched to Sunday – Thursday (10 pm Sunday night – 6 am Friday morning) if the qualified candidate would prefer so there is some flexibility there.


Position Purpose: This is an entry level position and job training is provided. After completion of job training, the Entry Level Lab Technician will be able to demonstrate skills and abilities to perform routine tasks assigned. Accurate completion of assigned tasks impacts operations through the assurance of quality products.

Duties are performed in the lab of a chemical production plant.

General Responsibilities include:
1)Complete regular responsibilities on time in a proper manner.
2) Assure accurate completion of tests to minimize retests on same sample.
3) Understand and follow lab and company policies.
4) Maintain good relationship with plant personnel contacts.


Job Specifications include:

Complexity of Duties: Duties are limited to routine tasks. Requires the ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
Supervision Received: Direct supervision of Lab Supervisor and/or designated alternate.
Supervision Exercised: None
Impact on Operations: Assurance of quality products is dependent on accurate completion of assigned tasks.
Contacts: Has limited contact with plant personnel.
Environment: This position works primarily in the laboratory areas. Requires good physical, visual and mental attention. On occasion special safety equipment may be required for entry into a hazardous manufacturing area.
Required (Basic) Experience &Education: High School or equivalent education (GED)and satisfactory college level courses and lab work in general and analytical and/or organic chemistry.
No previous experience is required although appropriate hands-on experience may be used to satisfy a portion of the educational requirements.
Required Competencies &Other Skills: Should be able to handle simple arithmetic and algebraic calculations.
Must be self-directed. You will have limited contact with plant personnel.
Should have good eye/hand coordination.
Basic computer operations.

Good communication skills - both oral and written.
Basic analytical skills.
Critical thinking skills.
Ability to work safely.
Ability to get along with others.
Ability to take direction from Lab Supervisor or alternate.
Self motivated.

Dilutions (i.e. as in Amine analysis)
Accurate foaming reading
Operation of basic laboratory equipment
Granular screen analysis
Preferred Competencies &Other Skills: Advanced computer skills (M/S office)
