Network Engineer – Information Technology

New York

 

About the Role

The network group designs, builds, and supports the network infrastructure for our company's proprietary real-time trading systems. Network performance and redundancy are critical to the success of the global trading operation. The network engineer will be part of a team that works with our company's software engineers and traders to satisfy the high-availability the electronic trading infrastructure needs.

 

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and document installations of network equipment.
• Design, install, and support the routing, switching, and security/VPN technologies in the WAN/LAN environments.
• Work with vendors and clients to resolve network-related issues.
• Carry out high-level analysis and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure.
• Perform capacity planning.
• Occasional travel to other company locations and local travel between the office and NJ area datacenters.
• 24/7 on-call support.

 

Required Skill and Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years in a technical networking environment as a network engineer.
• Experience with designing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex network backbones.
• Experience in BGP and IGP routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, and RIP) in a multi-vendor but primarily Cisco environment.
• Experience in VLAN technology, VTP and STP protocols.
• Experience in Access Control Lists, firewalls, VPN, and other security technologies.
• Solid understanding of Cisco IOS based routers & switches as well as datacenter NX-OS based switches
• Understanding and experience in multicast technology.
• Experience in data center management is a plus.
• Familiarity with 1G, 10G metro Ethernet and dark fiber technology.
• Experience in network monitoring, management tools; Experience with packet analysis tools is a plus.
• Working knowledge of public and private peering.
• Functional knowledge of cable standards including multi/single mode fiber.
• Knowledge of VOIP and QoS and market data integration is a plus.
• Interest in the financial trading industry is a plus.
