JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary As the Chief Engineer, Projects (CEP) you are the technical and organizational leader responsible for bringing a project from concept to completion. Under aggressive schedules you and your team will work on pragmatic solutions to hard problems. You act independently and are self-supervising within the expectations of Senior Leadership. We are looking for people who work hands-on and are unafraid of making decisions, even in the presence of incomplete data. We push the limits of what is possible through innovation, grit, and teamwork. You have relevant engineering expertise in one of the markets we are serving: agriculture, general aviation, IoT, or government & defense. You have strong leadership qualities and proven project management capabilities. As CEP, you are involved from the Concept phase to the release of documentation for Manufacturing of a project. You cooperate with your peers to schedule suitable resources for your project from a pool of functional groups. Typically, your project team will be interdisciplinary to integrate knowledge and methods from a variety of expertise (mechanical, electronics, embedded software, user facing software, test). You also seek inputs and buy-in from the customer and play a big role in ultimate customer satisfaction.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities   The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Leading an interdisciplinary engineering team to conceptualize, develop, and document mechatronic and/or software products Selecting design concepts Leading design reviews; both internal and customer facing Signing off on test requirements and test results Being accountable for project schedule, budget and final product costs   Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, computer engineering, or physics A minimum of 6 years of industry experience Creative problem solving by bringing multiple disciplines together to assess risks and make development decisions  Experience working in project teams such as Formula SAE or Hybrid Electric Vehicle Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere Strong sense of accountability and integrity with excellent communication skills Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organizational, and documentation skills Track record in project management, being financially astute in managing budgets ] Knowledge and technical understanding of engineering processes and design techniques   Additional Requirements: Willingness to work extended hours as needed Being an inspiring leader with the ability to optimize team performance  Excellent in relationship management to engage and manage key stakeholders and suppliers  Willing to resolve conflicts Experienced with electronic components, environmental testing, field testing.
