Gearbox Assembly TechnicianFor this role at our client, assignment is contingent upon the Employer of Record’s receipt of sufficient proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (meaning two weeks have passed after the last injection of Pfizer/Moderna or two weeks after receipt of the J&J). In some locations, testing for COVID-19 may be available and/or required. Requests for accommodation will be considered pursuant to applicable law.Client Mobility is hiring numerous Gearbox Assembly Technicians to overhaul and rebuild locomotive gears. We are responsible for disassembling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling components according to drawings and guidelines to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met. We inspect and adjust completed motors to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.Shift: Shift 2Shift Start and End Time: 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM1. Client has reputation as one of the fortune 500 companies that is 170 + year in business.2. The widely acclaimed magazine FORTUNE just recently named Client the “World’s Most Admired Company” in our industry for the fifth year in a row.3. In last 1/1/2 year, we have converted at least 15 production employee from temps to permanent employees.4. Once temp is converted to permanent employment, Client has very good compensation package which include 401K contribution 6%, medical insurance, dental insurance,18 days PTO,11 Holidays and much more.5. Temporary employees are part of incentive bonus program. They get quarterly bonuses just like Client permanent employees. Average quarterly bonus pay is between $250 and $350 which is between $1000 and $1400 a year.Responsibilities• Attach gearbox housing and couplings to build stand.• Install gears, bearings and housings.• Measure for accurate clearances using calibrated instrument (depth gauge, caliper, micrometer, etc).• Install spacers and covers and various fasteners, plugs, and hardware• Demount gearbox from build stand.• Inspect, test (if applicable), and adjust completed units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.• Assemble parts or units, and position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or frames. Disassemble units to replace parts or to crate them for shipping.• Position, align, and adjust parts for accurate fit and assembly.• Attach name plates and mark identifying information on parts.• Measure parts to determine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and verniers. Inspect parts for surface defects.• Align, fit, or assemble component parts, using hand or power tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes.• Verify part dimensions or clearances to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.• Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, bills of materials, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.• Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers.• Clean working areas and parts, using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths. Inventory tools.• Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations.• Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities or to resolve production problems.• Conduct 6S audits and safety walks.• Participate in work groups / projects in order to inform oneself and to provide information to the others and to optimize processes and workflows.We are looking to select the individuals with the most closely aligned practical experience, knowledge, skills and abilities with the job duties outlined above. See below for general knowledge, skills, tools, and education necessary for the role.Knowledge• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.• Knowledge of environmental health and safety laws and procedures.• Knowledge of product, workmanship standards, and assembly procedures.• Basic knowledge of computer software applications.• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.• Knowledge of machines, power tools, and hand tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and operator level maintenance.• Knowledge of basic lean principles and techniques for optimizing processes and eliminating waste.Skills• Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.• Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.• Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.• Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.• Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.• Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.• Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.• Communicating effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience.• Mechanical Assembly — Assembling mechanical connections and components as per drawings, instructions, and procedures.• Collaboration— Working with others to achieve a common goal.Requirements:· HS diploma or equivalent· Extensive experience with electromechanical assembly· Extensive Wiring experience· Direct assembly experience reading and interpreting schematic drawings· Ability to physically lift 35 pounds· Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, speak, write)· Ability to collaborate successfully in a team-oriented environment· Ability to learn and process information quickly and execute tasks successfully· Ability to work safely and to operate power tools and equipment in a safe mannerPreferences:· Extensive experience with electro mechanical assembly· Extensive Wiring experience· Must be able to read complex schematics· There will be a technical test as a part of the hiring processClient Mobility has been manufacturing in the United States since 1984.
