Client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our world-class team. A team that is redefining what an iconic performance automobile can be. The ME, Paint Operations is the primary technical resource for automotive exterior paint materials and body and paint shop processes. This role will be responsible for developing and supporting all paint operations, in-house and outsource. This is a dynamic position that requires the ability to create and manage project timelines while driving improvement in all areas with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and delivery. As a manufacturing engineer, you will define manufacturing planning templates, own the process definition, quality standards, and cost reduction initiatives. You will also be responsible for creating a lean part flow through production resources and implementing these resources in a new facility. Core Requirements: Degree in Engineering (Chemical / Manufacturing / Mechanical / Operations / Industrial). 4+ years of relevant experience in a similar role within an automotive OEM paint shop. Automotive paint system installation and operation experience. Experience working in a production/manufacturing or operations environment, with emphasis on manufacturing planning, material flow, and process improvement. General knowledge of lean principles, VSM, 5S, etc. Demonstrated ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Root Cause, and Corrective Action experience. Understand and be familiar with all applicable governmental (i.e., OSHA, NFPA) safety codes & standards. Summary of Essential Job Functions: Lead the new paint shop start-up from initial concept all the way to volume ramp-up. Develop and implement paint process quality control plans. Establish excellent cross-functional relationships with engineering, supplier quality, and manufacturing (Body-In-Black & General Assembly). Develop and implement Paint PFMEA standards and policies. Review work performed by Surface & Paint vendors, identify service quality risks, and collaborate with Quality team to drive performance improvement initiatives with vendors Develop and implement training programs for the production team. Identify, trial, and implement any new tools, equipment and processes that could improve quality and manpower efficiency. Effectively manage and balance safety, quality, throughput, cost, and people to provide maximum value to the customer and the company. Support day-to-day production of the Vehicles and components together with technicians, quality, supply chain. Analyze and disposition manufacturing discrepancies and interface with the quality team on root cause analysis and corrective actions. Develop and optimize production processes in alignment with labor cost targets. Create and manage manufacturing BOMs, work instructions, and specifications. You will be required to develop, educate, update, and improve standards for items you are responsible for. Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production demand. Responsible for developing and qualifying new processes to take products from design to production. Create and or improve Preventative Maintenance plans for tools, tooling, shop aids, equipment, and facilities for resources that you are responsible for. Requirements: Proficient working with SQL, Excel, or similar data analysis software. Experience with AutoCAD, Sketchup, Jira. Experience with developing, optimizing, and analyzing assembly and test processes. Strong project management skills. Able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment. Experience bringing teams and processes from a development phase to full production. Experience designing greenfield facility layouts and/or material flow strategy. Ability to periodically drive to and conduct work at vendor locations (Los Angeles area, 50 – 75 miles from )
