Inspector job summary Inspects materials coming in to be in compliance with company’s scrap acceptance policy and procedures by performing the following duties. Primary Responsibilities: Examines company's records to secure such information as size, weight of product and results of quality tests. Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for compliance with legal requirements, shipping, packing facilities for conformity to specified standards. Stamps mark of approval/rejection on product and writes report of examinations. Coordinate with mobile equipment operators to load/unload trucks. Inspect inbound loads for non-conforming materials. Ensure safety company rules are enforced, identify materials and write tickets with proper material codes. Take pictures of questionable materials, provide assistance to calibrate scales and detector equipment. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish).Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
