Northwest Partners is partnering with a premium educational institution which provide intensive technical education and training programs helping individuals and companies acquire in-demand technology skills for the modern workforce.
We are seeking to hire professional technical instructors to work on-site with our partner's dynamic educational team at the following location: Jersey City, NJ
**Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US.
We are unable to sponsor or take over the sponsorship of the employment visa at this time**
About the Role:
The instructor will teach technical skills and support career change among our partner's student population.
Successful candidates are typically accomplished software developers who have a passion for sharing their knowledge and expertise with their students.
Teaching technical skills and supporting career change is challenging work, but when the students have a great experience and succeed in their transformation, the work is both meaningful and personally rewarding.
Essential Functions:
Technical Education
Responsible for effectively utilizing the institution curriculum to facilitate technical education of students.

Ensures that lectures are approachable, focused, engaging, valuable and understood by students at different levels including beginners.

Enthusiastic delivery and inspiring engagement with the students
Complies with the record-keeping policies and procedures related to student performance (e.
g.
grading, attendance, quiz scores, etc.
).
Pathway Support
Responsible for maintaining a high campus job placement rate by supporting the institution career placement program.

Collaborates with campus career placement Director(s) to maintain a holistic view of individual student performance across both technical and career-readiness curricula
Effectively facilitates and supports the technical content of the career placement Program (e.
g.
technical interviewing)
Supports the efforts of the career placement Director(s) and promotes student participation in the Pathway Program
Individual Mentoring
Responsible for looking after the individual needs of students in order to promote a high graduation rate while maintaining a consistent level of technical competencies
Takes an interest in and ownership of the academic progress and performance of individual students
Effectively utilizes student mentoring sessions to assist with areas such as technical review, tutoring, mentoring, and development of side projects
Recognizes and takes appropriate and timely action when necessary to address students' poor academic performance or personal misconduct
Scholarship
Responsible for maintaining technical expertise and staying current with the software development industry.

Is knowledgeable of all facets of the client curriculum, self-identifying gaps where additional experience and learning is needed in order to effectively deliver a given curriculum topic
Seeks ways to improve the client's curriculum and educational practices and contributes to improving the "state of the art" at both the campus and organizational level
Stays abreast of current developments and trends in the field of software development
Shares knowledge and expertise in areas outside of the client's core curriculum with students, colleagues, and the broader software development community.

The Ideal Candidate Brings:
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:
  • 5+ years of experience with hands on development
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Java (Spring Boot / Spring MVC)
  • Experience with .
    HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Experience with C# and .
    Net is helpful, not required
  • Familiarity with full stack
  • Experience mentoring, coaching and/or leading junior developers
  • Full professional proficiency or bilingual proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of Agile
  • Strong communication skills
  • Genuine desire to help others learn
  • Strong visionary skills and creativity
  • Comfortable guiding students through structured lesson plans while giving real-world examples when needed
  • Ability to stand for at least 5 hours at a time
  • Ability to work some evenings
