Mon - Fri 8am-4:30pm

This position is responsible for performing laboratory experiments to assist with animal feed ingredient evaluations to support client innovation pipeline for commercial livestock, poultry, and aquaculture food. The person in this position will work in the laboratory and with pilot-scale ingredient processing to assess handling and manufacturing properties of enzyme treated complete feeds. The person also will be responsible for execution of experiments assessing the potential digestion and value of enzyme strains for use in animal foods, and will assist in development of new assays and standards.
The person in this position will be responsible for executing benchtop laboratory assays and have a working knowledge of laboratory techniques, including pipetting, use of an analytical balance, and following detailed analytical protocols. The position may perform independent investigations to solve problems. The person will support projects in Animal Nutrition and contribute to overall project goals.
Detailed Responsibilities:
•Execute experiments to assess enzyme quality in various feed blends and concentrates
•Set up and maintain laboratory equipment required for animal nutrition assays
•Assist with laboratory investigations that simulate digestive processes of animals
•Coordinate data collection from internal research investigations
•Execute research protocols to meet objectives
•Be organized and meticulous with laboratory data and processes

Required Education and Experience:

•B.S. in relevant area (e.g. animal nutrition, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or microbiology)
•Candidates with associate degree may be considered based upon relevant experience
•Hands-on experience working in a laboratory setting
•Demonstrated ability to execute and interpret laboratory experiments
•Willingness to work with biological materials
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
•Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences

Desired Experience:
•Working knowledge of livestock food ingredients and material science and food chemistry
