JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Position
• Performs the loading and unloading of trucks and shipping containers; following warehouse procedures and in conformance with all SHE policies and instructions.
• Records all relevant data in SAP or other system per work instructions. This includes transactions for the transfer of materials from production as well as receiving material back into the warehouse. It also includes receiving materials from in-bound shipments and for out-bound shipments.
• Organizes storage in such a way that use of the floor area is optimized and the physical movement of materials in and out of the racks is minimized.
• Stocks materials in the warehouses so that the appearance is well ordered, materials on upper levels in the racks are wrapped with shrink wrap for safety, materials are stacked so that the stacks are safe and straight and pallets are straight in the racks.
• Checks the condition of incoming and outgoing transport per a written procedure, both visually and by means of a checklist. Repairs minor defects or arranges for repair. Consults Quality Assurance in case of major shortcomings.
• Safely operates a lift truck to move materials and operates a wrapping machine to shrink wrap pallets of materials. Bands pallets to be shipped per customer requirements.
• Assists Logistics Coordinator with coordinating and prioritizing material handling tasks for shipments with production needs.
• Labels finished products for shipment or storage including pallet informational labeling such as: “Do Not Stack,” ”Do Not Co-load with Poisons”, Customer specific labeling, etc.
• Handles a full range of packaging requirements including drummed, bagged, or boxed product materials.
• Provides input to Logistics Coordinator to assist with non-compliant investigations and associated documentation.
• Maintain SAP goods movements for 3rd party warehouses.
• Displays and promotes positive safety behaviors at all times, uses proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures that ensure self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate to highest safety levels, that all people in area (maintenance, quality, visitors, contractors, etc.) comply with safety directives and keep area neat and clean.
• Aware of and follows all clientLife Saving Rules.
• Acts in such a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
• Works to SHE standards and encourages fellow colleagues to work to the same standards.
• Maintains area of responsibility in a clean and safe manner. Promptly cleans up work area.


The Ideal
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Working knowledge of the raw material, processing aids, intermediates, and finished goods for each department so as to retrieve and store the goods
• Shipping/receiving experience preferred
• The operator must be able to load and un-load a variety of trucks and or containers packed in various manners in a safe and efficient manner.
• Forklift truck experience
• Computer proficiency
• Good communication, organizational and social skills
• Understanding of record keeping
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the duties in the assigned work area.
