JOB DESCRIPTION :

Description of Position: The position promotes and provides optimal care of cardiovascular/thoracic patients at the GFCH through leadership, coordination and program development. Enhances the CV program though management of daily operations, education and patient oversight. The Cardiovascular/Thoracic Specialist provides leadership and direction to acute care clinical nurse managers, nurses and support staff. Competent to provide direct patient care to medical and surgical cardiovascular patients needing advanced monitoring; including post-open heart surgery. Required to operate advanced medical equipment including use of central lines, arterial lines, IV cardiac medications/drips, balloon pumps, and patients requiring Ventilation Support. Has ability to assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision. Performs all functions in accordance with regulatory and professional standards. Acts as a clinical leader and assists with mentoring staff. Receives direction from Chief Nursing Officer. Education: Graduate of an accredited RN Degree Nursing Program.Experience:Must have minimal of 3 years' experience as an RN in a hospital setting; recent CCU Surgical experience is required. Use of basic office equipment, use of multiple IV pumps, ability to operate advanced medical equipment, arterial lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, patients requiring ventilator support. License:Must be licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Montana. CPR required. ACLS and PALS required or must obtain upon 6 months of employment.
