Machine Operator – Production
Position: Machine Operator

Machine Positions:
Blending (Bernice)
Cooking (Bessie)
Filling (Ishida & Toyo + attached support equipment)
Flow Wrapper (For Bars)
Immediate Supervisor: Shift Supervisor
Primary Purpose: Work with team to produce the safest and best quality product possible with a key function of overall production flow.
Main Responsibilities:
• Able to process and mix different ingredients by following the company’s written formula.
o Load all ingredients into mixing machine
o Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds bags of ingredients
• Able to perform per-op and post-op tasks for assigned machine(s)
o Reviews daily production schedule, conducts an inspection over machinery, ensures that all parts of the machinery is in working order and that work area is clean at the start of the shift or during shift change
o Pre-Op and post-op documentation including Production Order documentation
o Pre-Op and Post-Op sanitation
 Performs proper cleaning by keeping work area clean and using proper cleaning tools
 Cleans up production area and elsewhere at end of shift as directed
 Where needed, picks up and stores away left-over materials in the appropriate locations
• Perform all necessary quality checks for incoming and outgoing product
• Perform changeovers quickly, efficiently, and safely
• Use hand tools as required
• Demonstrates a deep understanding of how the machines function while being operated
o Interfaces touch screen computer applications in order to operate the machine
o Remains current in knowledge and understanding of process changes and updates for machine
• Identifies opportunities to improve processes
o Demonstrates the ability to identify key downtime reasons and solutions to improve efficiency
• Maintain schedule compliance and be able to prioritize workload for machine
• Knowledge of Lock out/Tag out for assigned machine operation
• Ensures that inventory needed to run the machine is available
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with machinery or equipment operation and partner with maintenance staff to resolve issues
• Communicates with production staff in a clear and timely manner to maximize productivity
• Maintain clean work area through good housekeeping practices
• Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the assigned machine(s)
• Closely follow all GMP’s, train staff as needed on GMP’s
• Assist with the application and training of HACCP
• Assist in the training of employees.
• Assist with warehouse as needed.
• Assist line positions within all of production
• Ensure duties and responsibilities are performed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with all company policies
• HACCP Team Member
• May be required to perform additional tasks not defined here

Specialized Knowledge:
• Ability to understand basic automation, follow instructions and procedures, read operating instructions
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements
• Basic computer skills
• GMP knowledge
• Allergenic Foods
• Foods containing Gluten
• Basic HACCP knowledge
• FSPCA Preventive Control for Humans
• Gluten Free Testing Process and Protocol
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
