Machine Shop Supervisor
Direct and coordinate activities of assigned departments and personnel engaged in processing materials or manufacturing products. This role involves full accountability for results in terms of costs, methods, quality and quantity of production, operations and personnel by performing the below duties or through the team leaders. Specifically, responsible for the machining and testing of all castings, both poured in-house and purchased, working within ASME & ISO requirements.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote and direct good safety and environmental housekeeping practices throughout Machining and Assembly areas.
- Coordinate and direct activities of hourly personnel to produce machined castings that meet, or exceed, our functional and quality requirements.
- Direct manufacturing activities to machine and test castings in quantities that meet production control schedule.
- Direct activities of hourly personnel to establish and maintain machine process times and manual labor efficiencies that yield production costs, which meet or exceed objectives.
- Participate in Machining Operations cost reduction activities.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Foundry to keep machines, tools, jigs, and fixtures in good working condition to maximize up-time.
- Work with Maintenance, Engineering, and Foundry on projects to strengthen operations.
- Promote good working relationships among all Machine Shop employees including Union, Management, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance personnel.
- Direct hourly employees in proper conduct, consistent with work practices, plant rules and contractual regulations.
- Initiate ASME & ISO Documents and enter into Quality Management Web Site.
- Promote continuous improvement activities with in Machining Shop and Assembly areas.
- Maintain, monitor and drive all OEE metrics including but not limited to productivity, performance, quality, downtime, etc.
- Lead hourly employees through Lean initiatives

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Associates Degree
- 5 years experience in machining and machine tool concepts.
- 5 year experience in CNC programming
- 4 years supervisory experience
- Mid to high-level PC experience
