Call us NOW! ***Visa sponsorship is available for this position.*** Job Title: Sr. Data Engineer Location: Houston Texas- Hybrid(2 day/week onsite) Our client is seeking to staff Sr Data Engineer/Analyst, Business Intelligence to join its Retail Business Intelligence team to strengthen the BI capabilities of client's Retail business. The position requires 8+ years of data management, modelling and BI experience. The successful candidate will possess a strong data modeling, data visualization background and will provide expertise and best data engineering practices. The candidate should have a demonstrable record of being able to interact effectively with business stakeholders in all functional areas to gather and understand business requirements and reporting needs. Ability to learn new technologies, welcome challenges, , attention to detail , accept new responsibilities, work well as individual and as a team and adapt quickly is essential. Work with Data science teams to simplify their data pipelines with better structured information assets. Guide and mentor junior team members. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Gather large and complex data sets to meet business requirements. • Re-designing data marts for scalability and optimization. • Ensure data architecture supports existing and future requirements of evolving business model • Accountable and responsible for processes setup and go above and beyond to ensure data accuracy and reliability. • Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. • Create and maintain documentation for each step in the data lifecycle • Lead development and maintenance of operational dashboard and executive-level reporting using tools like Tableau, or Power BI • Interact with functional business units to analyze, gather and prioritize business and reporting requirements • Partner with the Enterprise Data and Analytics leaders and teams to manage the key data processes, tools, and architectures needed to deliver confidence in regular reports. • Collaborate with Enterprise Data and Analytics team to implement data management, data quality and governance best practices and standards. • Work with Data Science team to assist in simplification of their data pipelines. • Partner with business leaders to develop, monitor, and report on marketing tests for new or enhanced products and campaigns • Provide ad hoc report for Retail organization for experiments in market. • Hands on development of data models in Oracle, AWS and data visualizations. • Provide guidance and support to junior data engineers and analysts. • Formulate and provide status updates on project plans and schedules to meet goals/objectives • Monitor and stay abreast of key developments in BI industry Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS or related discipline/experience. • Hands on experience in Python/SAS a must. • 8+ years working in business intelligence and data analysis • Expertise in SQL Preferred Qualifications: • Masters in Computer Science/Data Analytics/MIS is a plus • Hands-on and advanced SAS/R and SQL • Good understanding of relational and non-relational databases • Must possess deep expertise with OLAP design, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and data quality • Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI • Gas or power industry experience with knowledge of the retail electricity market. • Ability to lead and mentor analysts, maintaining attention to detail regarding analysis and reported results • Strong organizational skills and comfort interacting with different lines of business, IT and senior management • Comfortable with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open-ended questions, and translate into actionable items Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to manage multiple priorities while committed to deadlines and work overtime when required • Proficient in effectively communicating to a wide range of audiences, both written and oral • Self-starter with strong work ethic • Ability to evaluate and learn new technologies quickly • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
