Maintenance Supervisor/Lead Carpenter Apply
Reporting to the AVP of Facilities the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance staff and performs routine building maintenance.
It is expected that all employees of the BAC are able to be flexible and work collaboratively in order to meet the needs of the College. Accordingly, other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned at any time to successfully meet the needs of the College.
PRIMARY ESSENTIAL Functions:
• Receive work requests from staff
• Performs electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC repairs as needed
• Provide on-call services: liaison with vendors and coordinator construction as needed
• Ensures life safety equipment is maintained and in good order
• Ensures the smooth operation of all building equipment
• Performs department employee reviews
• Provides back up security staff
• Maintains coherent work request system with timely response
• Train staff on safety protocols, OSHA compliance, and other “Tool Boy Talks”
• Ensures that all buildings are clean and neat
EDUCATIONAL criteria: A minimum of a high school diploma, preferably at a vocational school.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of three years of supervisory experience, preferably in an academic environment. Demonstrates ability to perform variety of tasks in the building trades, with emphasis on carpentry and HVAC equipment maintenance.
• Ability to give clear direction to subordinates
• Demonstrates ability to maintain the highest professional standards in carpentry
• Knowledge of OSHA, MSDS, and ADA standards
• Familiarity with vendor contracting practices
• Solid supervisory background in at least one of the building trades
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and the public.
• Familiarity with MS Office desirable
• Ability to respond to emergencies during weekends and nights.
