JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary objective is to maintain plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant condition. Strive to achieve the highest operating efficiency, job efficiency, and standard of performance possible while maintaining product quality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists Maintenance Mechanics as necessary with repairs of all mechanical equipment throughout the plant including pumps, hot oil systems, tanks, air, water, bearings, power equipment, fuel piping, exhaust systems, hydraulic systems, bulk handling conveyors, pneumatic systems, etc.

Diagnose machine trouble areas; perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of electrical, electronic, and PLC systems and equipment.

Performs predictive maintenance using machine and equipment inspections.

Works from blueprints, sketches, schematics and symbols, in written or verbal format.

Enters applicable data into various software systems including: SAP, and Microsoft office.

Calibrates equipment, instruments, and systems to ensure proper results and measurement.

Advises Maintenance Leader and Maintenance Planner of potential repairs and hazards.

Performs PMs as they are scheduled and assists Maintenance Planner in the development of PM???s.

Keep the parts and tool rooms organized and cleaned.

Work with other employees in a team building manner.

Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Attends schools, seminars, tradeshows, etc. to enhance his skills in the various crafts including electrical, electronics, PLC, etc.
Trains all other Maintenance Technicians in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electronics, Be the proponent, expert, and advocate of Arc Flash Safety.

Perform other Maintenance duties when not actively engaged in Electronics/PLC/Programing issues.

Be available on-call as necessary for emergencies regarding electronic, programming, or PLC issues.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The employee should hold the following abilities:

Basic knowledge and application of mathematics.

Knowledge of all safe work procedures

Operate hand tools and portable power tools in a safe manner

Good oral and written communications skills

Ability to read and interrupt blueprints and electrical wiring diagrams.

Knowledge of precision measurement.

Demonstrated ability to program Allen Bradley Panelview HMI???s and modifies screen contents as necessary to provide information and control for process systems.

Thorough knowledge and use of electrical measuring equipment such as AC/DC Multimeter, Meggar, Current Measuring equipment, Oscilloscope

Thorough knowledge of basic process control loops using 0-10vdc and 4-20ma process signals and measurement sensors such as thermocouples, PH sensors, pressure transducers, current transducers, and level sensors.

Have thorough knowledge of industrial electrical controls systems including, transformers, three phase AC circuits, DC Drive equipment and controls, AC Variable Frequency drive controls and three phase power systems.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

The employee must be able to:

Log into and navigate Globalink to access PeopleSoft for paycheck/benefits enrollment information

Log into and navigate Owens Corning University (OCU) and accomplish required online training routinely

Demonstrated computer knowledge and skills

Thorough working knowledge (of at least 1 Programing language and the ability and willingness to learn the others) of Allen Bradley PLC5, SLC 5, ControLogix processors, and associated Input and Output modules.

Thorough working knowledge of Allen Bradley Remote I/O such as 1771, Flex I/O, Block I/O.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic programs using Allen Bradley RSLogix software.

Demonstrated ability to understand PLC programs and make modifications as necessary to keep systems operational using Allen Bradley RSLogix software.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

High School Diploma or GED equivalency

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance

Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance

Work for up to 8 hours in extreme hold/cold manufacturing environment

Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 8 hours

Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires

Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) steel toed shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task

Push/Drive floor sweeping and cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties

Ability to rotate and work shift work

Exposure to noise

Ability to work from heights (silos and JLG Lifts)

Ability to work overtime as necessary

Ability to routinely have wrist motion (repetitive flexion / rotation)##
