JOB DESCRIPTION :
Pay rate - $18.93/hr

The manufacturing technician will work together with a diverse, cross-functional team developing new technologies for the composites and additive manufacturing space. This individual will support the team in laying up and infusing trial components based on manufacturing drawings and work instructions. The candidate will also be trained, as needed, in specialized test equipment to support further small-scale trials, material characterization, and coupon preparation. Finally, the manufacturing technician will support the building of full-scale components for structural testing side-by-side with the R&D team. The candidate is expected to be self-sufficient and able to work off of provided drawings and work instructions with minimal oversight.


Key Responsibilities:
As a manufacturing technician you will:
• Kit and prepare materials to support process trials.
• Perform composites layup and infusion processes.
• Support building of full-scale and trial composite components.
• Prepare test coupon specimens for internal and external lab testing.
• Run specialized lab equipment under supervision.
• Provide required documentation, as defined by the R&D team, for trials performed and test specimens prepared.
Qualifications / Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of composites manufacturing experience.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency with composite glass layup and VARTM infusion processes to be demonstrated with a skill assessment.
• Ability to read manufacturing drawings.
• Handle repetitive weight – 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules per site needs.
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience with Eastman ply cutter
• Experience with large-scale additive manufacturing (3D printing)
• Experience with material characterization using mechanical test frames.
• Basic understanding of metrology and microscopy, including specimen preparation.
