Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
Main Purpose of Job
The job consists of conducting all mechanical and electrical repairs or installations in a safe and timely manner.


Essential Functions
Essential Functions Frequency
Performs daily equipment and facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
As needed
Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, fabricates and makes mechanical and electrical adjustments/repairs on all plant process equipment, HVAC equipment (when not outsourced), metal detection equipment, crushers, weighing equipment (when not outsourced), blending equipment, conveyors, pumps, valves, pipes, environmental systems, waste systems, fans, storage tanks, facility structures, plant pressurized air systems, fire protection systems and other equipment as may be required.
As needed
Resolving all mechanical and electrical equipment performance issues and equipment malfunctions as assigned.
As needed
Performs preventive maintenance on all production equipment and systems as outlined above or otherwise assigned and ensure that proper documentation is maintained.
Conducts scheduled preventive and non-emergency unscheduled maintenance as assigned.
As needed
Closely monitors pollution control equipment and reports any malfunctions immediately.
Checks transformer oil level, hydraulic oil levels, inspects transformers and furnace and mold cooling systems and ensures that all auxiliary equipment is working satisfactorily and effectively.
As needed
Monitors and informs the purchasing manager, stores clerks, and maintenance group lead when spares part shortages are noted and helps identify needed spare parts.
As needed
Works to resolve equipment and system technical or engineering issues as assigned.
Constructs and modifies equipment and facility systems as assigned.
Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications.
As needed
Records; Takes meter readings, reads temperatures, pressures, and makes necessary calculations.
This component of operation requires computer knowledge and ability to enter data into spreadsheets, databases, etc.
As needed
Ensures that quality is maintained by carefully following operating procedures and instructions.
Area housekeeping and cleanup.
Operator must complete a thorough clean-up of assigned area each shift.
Operator must be able and willing to carry out written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
As needed
Perform all the duties in a safe, responsible manner in accordance with the Saint-Gobain EHS Charter, observing all Company and Government regulations.
Observe and report all unsafe conditions to the Shift Leads.
Comply with company policies and safety rules.
Remains constantly observant and alert to unsafe work areas, unsafe working conditions, and/or unsafe employees, and reports these conditions immediately to a supervisor.
As needed
Operates forklift, booms, scissor lifts and overhead crane as required.
Certified required.
Must be able to operate the equipment safely and accurately in tight quarters.
As needed
Must be able to perform all tasks with little to no supervision.
As needed
Responsible for operation of maintenance shop equipment to include but not limited to band saws, lathes and welders in a safe manner.
As neeeded
Ability to understand PLC ladder logic, trouble shoot electrical problems (even in a high voltage environment), read and understand wiring diagrams, install new electrical service, program VFD's, and wire controls.
Desired skill (pay premium for electrical ability)
Ability to work around and with high voltage equipment.
Desired skill
Ability to MIG, TIG, and ARC weld, safely use grinders, saws, drills, tap and dies, mills, and other standard machine shop equipment.
An understanding of basic blueprints and schematics is also required.
