Position: Network Architect

Location: King of Prussia, PA

Duration: 6 months, RTH. Local resource preferred....they will return onsite at some point.

Network Architect -- We have been given the green light to fill the position with a contractor short term (6-months) but we eventually want to fill the position with an FTE (so someone RTH is best case)

  • Looking for someone who has been or is an architect. Not a great Sr. Engineer who has done some design work. Someone who can develop long term strategies for LAN/WAN, route/switch, wireless networks, network management, and network security while understanding the impact to applications, services, and operations/support.

  • Leadership qualities are a must. Should be able to develop and present strategies to all levels of the organization. Must be a team player to work as part of an architecture team.

Network / infrastructure expertise, Design, strategy and VISION approach. LAN/WAN, Firewalls, all network Security aligning and integrating. Hybrid locations (cloud / azure and on-prem) coming from Some regulatory background so it matches the Healthcare.

Nicole wants a bit more hybrid/hands on --- where Seth/Martin are more hands off Design/Strategy FIND someone more DESIGN BUT is OK digging in as needed.

***Presentations to leadership, Design Docs/Strategy etc --

MUST have strong SECURITY experience looking at security risks, from a holistic VIEW --- impact to applications, other systems, network issues, etc. for example EPIC is a remote hosted app, some Cloud (private and public w/ Azure and AWS), some on-prem, etc.

  • Must know MOBILE / Wireless
  • Must know Firewalls they are Palo-Alto, but want 2-3 total
  • LAN/WAN overall Design / Architecture

FULL SPEC:

The Network Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the strategic architectural direction of the wired and wireless network, voice, and video infrastructure architecture, enabling the organization to meet business objectives. This architect works directly with the enterprise architecture team, the leaders of the IT department, and the health system's management team. The position requires an in depth knowledge of establishing architectural principles formulation of strategies, target states, and roadmaps for network, voice, and video capabilities across the enterprise.

Develops system requirements and ensures that systems will be secure and effectively integrated with current infrastructure. Ensures that all systems are working at optimal levels and offers support to the business application teams regarding new technologies and system requirements. Has thorough knowledge of network, voice, and video infrastructure. In conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture team, the architect is responsible for coordinating activities to establish common roadmaps and core capabilities to support Main Line Health.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABIITIES:

  • Serves as the subject matter expert to provide strategic oversight and planning of enterprise network, voice, and video infrastructure initiatives to ensure they are properly designed and in alignment with enterprise infrastructure strategies. Set and manage stakeholders' expectations; recommend solutions; manage vendor relationships; mediate between infrastructure, enterprise architecture, and application teams.
  • Establish key vendor relationships with IT leadership; assess emerging technologies; provide key input on technology investments regarding price vs. performance vs. capabilities. Knowledge of emerging technologies and vendor roadmaps; ability to balance costs against benefits.
  • Ability to define/document target architecture; anticipate network, voice, and video growth; ensure scalable and flexible core technologies; stay abreast of industry trends and to quickly assess new products; use KPI's and effective metrics to improve key processes; bridge typically separate areas across the infrastructure landscape. Understanding of business drivers and stakeholder requirements; understanding of documentation and architectural frameworks; experience in capacity and performance management.
  • Participate in the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to facilitate key technology and solution decisions for upcoming initiatives; define and maintain documentation of infrastructure and technology standards, process, and policies related to core infrastructure areas. Develops and reviews solutions to ensure network, voice, and video infrastructure systems and associated processes align with IT Strategies and Roadmaps.
  • Review and recommend infrastructure technologies to meet business needs and priorities and to align with enterprise strategies. Design the technical network, voice, and video infrastructure for the enterprise; effectively integrate solutions into the existing infrastructure; document current state infrastructure architecture; consult on key projects; confirm the deployed solutions meet the business' needs and technical requirements.
  • Provide technical infrastructure support to determine root cause on infrastructure problems and major incidents.
  • Participate to develop and manage ongoing enterprise architecture governance structure on basis of business plus IT strategies. Promote organization architecture process and results to organization inclusive of business leaders and enterprise's IT.
  • A customer-first mindset and ability to communicate complex technical concepts with individuals across varying levels and functions of the organization
  • Other duties within the department as assigned

Primary Customers or Key Working Relationships:

Managers, technicians, architects

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in IT or Health Informatics or equivalent

work experience with 10 years of demonstrable experience designing and integrating network infrastructures.

Licenses/Certifications: CCNP or equivalent network certification required

Preferred Certifications: TOGAF or equivalent certification, CCAr or equivalent network certification, ITIL Certification

  • Healthcare or other regulatory experience and in depth knowledge of legacy and emerging technology strongly preferred.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with all levels of technology and business partners
    Excellent facilitation skills
    Experience delivering concurrent, large information management projects at all phases-from project definition through design and delivery.
    Experience in Network segmentation and security.
  • A strong understanding of PMO and SDLC processes and technologies
  • Public speaking experience in front of large groups and executives
    Experience working with vague requirements and/or within organizations that are non-structured
  • Creative and critical thinking skillset
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and documentation skills
    Strong interpersonal and excellent communications skills (written and verbal) required.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel to hospital sites as needed

DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be flexible in working safely and within the schedules requested by staff and/or patients.
  • Ability to interrupt planned workflow to address urgent repairs/issues.
  • Must exhibit good interpersonal skills and ability to work under stressful conditions.
