Job Brief:

The Common & Collective Fund Services Ops Sr Section Manager assists the Department Manager in leading a team of fund accountants in the accurate and timely processing of the common and collective trust funds. This lead position ensures that OCC regulations, bank policy, department controls and procedures are understood and followed. The Ops Sr Section Manager interacts with other trust operation groups, various LOBs, internal and external auditors, and vendors in support of the team's activity. The department is responsible for completing daily and weekly fund valuations, distributing income and gain/loss, and processing participant trades for the Client sponsored and private client funds. The team also prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting to internal and external parties including audited annual financial statements, New York Ten Year Accountings, and OCC STIF regulatory reporting.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Cross-train team members to ensure coverage of all department functions
  • Ensure procedures are updated to reflect current operating standards, regulatory requirements, and department internal controls
  • Review and update coverage for fund valuations, auditing, and other ancillary function assignments
  • Provide high level support of daily processing, projects, and issue resolution
  • Prepare income and gain / loss reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly performance measurement and other management reports
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate the external auditing of the annual financial statement reports
  • Participate in system testing and special projects including LOB initiatives
  • Communicate with Portfolio Managers, internal and external auditors, and other service partners on a regular basis
  • Assist in goal setting, coaching, and career discussions including performance reviews
  • Assist Department Manager in sharing best practices, identifying, and implementing process improvements
  • Act as back-up to Fund Accountants, Sr Ops Analyst, and Department Manager as needed

 

Required Skills:

  • 2 years' experience providing high level support in an operations production environment
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Display a solid understanding of investment vehicles and related accounting rules and regulations
  • Display risk management awareness and adapt well to changing priorities, deadlines, and corporate/industry direction
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and meet established deadlines
  • Strong Personal Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in leading and influencing teams in trust operations
  • Prior fund valuation experience
  • Prior experience in completing financial statements

 

Must be able to report to and work from the Tiedeman Offices (Brooklyn, OH) location 2 times per week.
