Plant Support Specialist Apply
Description:
•To identify / evaluate / implement in conjunction with Process Engineers continuous improvements into existing production processes.
• To identify / troubleshoot / resolve in conjunction with Operations staff both chronic and sporadic disturbances in existing production processes.
• To assist in estimation / design / engineering in conjunction with Project Engineers capital project implementation.
• To provide general support to site Engineering functions.
4. Position context
DNP Schenectady Site is a single plant and product site in which the following processes and technologies are operated:
• Blend and package of multiple customer nutritional dry powder blends
The CI Department is responsible for the continuous improvement of all Schenectady production processes..
The site is following a (multi year) strategy in which aside from sustaining compliance and maintaining a cost competitive position, intensive efforts are put into attracting new products in nutritional blends as the assets are underutilized. This practically means multiple feasibility studies, commercial scale trials and engineering studies supported and/or led by the CI Department.
5. Position content
a) Key areas of accountability and responsibility:
SHE:
1. Knows and follows all client Life Saving Rules.
2. Displays and promotes positive safety behaviors at all times; uses proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area (production personnel, maintenance, quality, visitors, contractors, etc.) complies with the safety directives and keeps the area neat and clean.
3. Responsible to ensure compliance with site management of change procedure for Improve Plant proposals that have been allocated to him/her. Acts in such a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
4. Responsible to work in a SHE responsible manner and report all SHE incidents, shows leadership by working to SHE standards and encouraging employees to work to the same standards.
5. Responsible to ensure that a phased (in alignment with engineering process steps) consideration and assessment of the various SHE aspects are executed during design, construction and commissioning for capital projects that are allocated to him/her.

6. Support in depth troubleshooting of process and equipment issues including performing root cause investigations.
7. Assist engineers to initiate, implement and follow-through for the successful completion of new processes or strengthening of existing processes.
8. Provide support in interface between production and engineering functions related to ongoing processes and conditions to achieve maximum quality and output.
9. Collect data and analyze; generate sound and clear recommendations and conclusions.
10. Transfer of knowledge to manufacturing staff to aid in training efforts.
11. Interface with project engineering to aid in development of cost estimates, project timelines/scheduling, and optimal design practices (drawings/procedures).
12. Establish contacts and maintain positive relations with customers (internal and external) and vendors.
13. Work within plant practices in the management of resources, funds and methodologies.
14. Support development of equipment and instrumentation systems to achieve improvements in productivity, yield and/or operating cost.
15. Develop and revise engineering and production documentation such as standard operating procedures and flow diagrams as needed.
