Cortech is seeking a Practice Specialist for our client in Asheville, NC.

Role Summary:
Scheduling appointments and registering patients to support the clinical practice. Provide excellent customer service and complete a variety of duties associated with daily operations. Provide back up support for Practice Specialist

Job Description:
1. Support practice by maintaining knowledge of daily clinic operations and accurately scheduling patients.
2. Ensure accurate patient scheduling by maintaining knowledge of clinical resources.
3. Complete scheduling process by obtaining patient and referral information. Schedules appointments/procedures and ensures patient understanding of appointment details, such as date, time and location.
4. Assure communication among staff by monitoring daily schedule and notify providers and patients of changes or updates.
5. Support production and ability to reschedule by assuring changes, i.e., cancellations, reschedules and no shows are documented.
6. Assure continuity of care by following clinician orders to schedule tests/procedures and/or appointments for patients.
7. Support department by registering patients.
8. Complete the registration process by entering patient demographics and insurance information into practice management software.
9. Ensure understanding of patient responsibility by explaining general billing process to patients, directing patients with additional questions/concerns to appropriate personnel.
10. Support department flow and revenue collection by ensuring insurance referrals and authorizations are obtained prior to appointment.
11. Work within department guidelines to provide excellent customer service with MERIT.
12. Answer telephone, take and deliver accurate and complete messages in a timely, pleasant and tactful manner.
13. Maintain knowledge of different areas of the practice by keeping current with departmental activities and services.
14. Project a positive image of physician practice by greeting customers in a courteous and prompt manner.
15. Ensure waiting room is presentable by straightening up at noon and at the end of the day.Support excellence of patient care by telephoning to check status of patients following surgery/procedure.
16. Ensures smooth operation of patient check in/check out process.
17. Check in patient upon arrival by obtaining check in paperwork including patient demographics and insurance information.
18. Support department by explaining and obtaining signatures on appropriate forms.
19. Assure paperwork is complete by thorough review for correct labels and signatures.
20. Collect appropriate copayments or payments for service by carefully reviewing each patient account.
21. Supports department operations and coworkers by completing other duties as assigned or requested.
22. Aid department by providing back up for Practice Specialist I.
23. Manage workday by prioritizing activities and assignments according to their relative importance.
24. Assure control of work by calmly and efficiently managing constant interruptions from providers, co-workers and telephone calls.
