Job Summary This position impacts the organization by providing customers with advice on how to conduct their international business while maintaining compliance with applicable government regulations. The incumbent conducts on-site compliance assessments at customer facilities and drafts audit findings/recommendations for presentation to client management teams. This role works with customers to develop compliance improvement plans and draft import/export policies and procedures manuals. This position provides import/export compliance analysis and direction to clients in the areas of classification, valuation, preferential trade programs (e.g., Free Trade Agreements [FTA], Drawback, etc.), and other government agency requirements and export licensing to render assistance to clients prior to and during Customs audits. This role has no direct reports and teams with the Trade Consultant III when consulting with Sales for client delivery. Responsibilities Utilizes High ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) classification experience, especially in Categories 2, 3, 4, 5 part 1 and 5 part 2, and experience with annual/semi-annual crypto reporting Develops operational quality goals and standards to meet specifications Evaluates performance against quality goals to develop process improvements and increase service levels Reviews existing processes to identify inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities Supports collaboration with the Industrial Engineering and Solutions department to help develop new operating processes Conducts root cause analyses to develop corrective action plans Identifies client training requirements to comply with government regulations for training programs Assists with soliciting input from a diverse audience (e.g., trainers, subject matter experts, etc.) to gather feedback on proposed training programs Develops project plans to implement training initiatives Preferences Possesses excellent organizational skills Displays ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision with a high attention to detail Possesses intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access, if necessary) Demonstrates strong analytical, communication (verbal/written), customer service and time management skills Possesses strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations Displays ability to handle multiple customers and interact in a client facing environment Minimum 3 years of Customs Compliance experience Demonstrates ITAR and EAR experience Technical experience in complex classification issues including 600-series analysis for CCL defense items Experience across various areas of compliance audits, restricted party list screening/OFAC 50% rule/sanctions reviews, compliance program implementations, routed exports, etc. Experience addressing import-export violations, drafting SOPs, etc. Experience with CCATS, Commodity Jurisdictions (CJs), export license Technology experience including deemed exports and intangible transfers of software and technology Customs Brokers License BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer Employer will not sponsor a visa for this or future positions Must have a Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) or be a current UPS employee with three years of UPS experience Where permitted by applicable law, employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by their date of hire/placement to be considered for employment.
