Start Time8:00 AMEnd Time4:30 PMBLS - requiredComplete conscious sedation of patients undergoing cardiac procedures Prep and recover patients for Cardiac Cath lab procedures Work as a part of a high functioning team to provide quality patient care to all those in our care.Provides direct patient care to all patient populations; excluding pediatrics. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with the physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the EP, Specials, and Cardiac Cath Lab team are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure. Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging of patients from the Cardiac Cath Lab. Provides follow-up. Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high risk procedures Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to assess cardiorespiratory systems for changes in adult to geriatric patients and is able to treat appropriately Observes behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications; takes appropriate actions and documents Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning of procedure rooms before and between cases and after terminal care. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of location, care and operation of all Cardiac Cath Lab equipment. Monitors the patient at all times; does not leave the room unnecessarily Documents patient data during the procedure (heart rate, blood pressure, respirations, all pressures, O2 saturation, EKG). Maintains procedure records. Ensures preop checklist is complete (H&P present, informed consent signed, test results present, prosthesis/dentures, contacts/glasses) before patient is taken into procedure room. Starts IVs; monitors IV fluids and patency of IVs Moves and transports patients safely. Counts narcotics at beginning and end of each shift with another RN per facility policy and procedure. Demonstrates the ability to educate patients and their families.Overview: The Cardiology Registered Nurse is responsible for using the Nursing Process to meet the needs of patients according to professional standards of nursing care.Responsibilities: Is responsive to and addresses complaints of and/or appearance of patient's pain. Accurately assess patient and family care needs. Maintains patient and co-worker confidential information. Plans care for the patient/family based on the assessment in collaboration with physician and others of the interdisciplinary care team. Demonstrates behaviors of strong patient advocacy Demonstrates effective communication and problem solving skills with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. Seeks help when necessary Implements or appropriately delegates care based on the interdisciplinary plan of care. Evaluates effectiveness of care instructions.General CommentsQualifications Education: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing. Licensure: Current Registered Nurse Licensure in Arkansas Experience: Two years cardiovascular experience, preferably in Intensive Care or Cardiology Cath Lab or ED. Certifications: Current BLS Certification. Current ACLS Certification.
