Job Description AND Responsibilities:

  • UrbanSim, leader in simulation based urban planning and design, and is on a mission to help Urban Planners, Modelers, Designers, policy makers, real-estate developers and others create better cities that are more livable, equitable, sustainable, and economically vibrant.
  • We are seeking a front-end developer that is experienced in building map-based applications to take us to the next level of ease of use, deep diving into data, and expanding our audience base.
  • If you have experience in mapping technology and are interested in building interactive user experiences which leverage 2D and 3D visualization over the web, then we have an opportunity for you.

Qualifications:

  • Good experience with MapBox GL required. Potential substitute is strong experience with other mapping APIs such as Google Maps, Bing Maps, or ArcGIS APIs.
  • Experience with MapBox Studio, deck.gl, three.js, CesiumJS, and OpenStreetMaps and knowledge a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience building web interfaces in a production environment, ideally including interactive SPAs.
  • Experience with React, JavaScript and Node.js required.
  • Knowledge and experience with libraries and tools like Typescript, jQuery, Redux, d3, turf.js, Material-UI, Prime React, AntV/Desig, ESlint, and Webpack are a plus.
  • An understanding of 3D constructs and interaction techniques
  • Experience with either building Analytical visualization (charts, graphs, heatmaps, etc.) or using tools and libraries that do so.
  • Experience in expressing information with 2D geometric, CAD, or BIM (Building Information Modeling) data is a plus.
  • Understands how to leverage techniques for integration, filtering, selection, and editing of multi-dimensional data.
  • Can balance the needs of application performance, time-to-market, sublime look and feel.
  • Bonus to developers that have any experience or exposure to urban planning, urban design, architecture, or its users.
  • BS in computer science or similar technical degree, or commensurate industry experience
