Job Summary-The District Case Supervisor is responsible for effective management of casualty claims (i.e., worker’s compensation [WC], auto, and general liability) for his/her districts. He/She is involved in effective case management, vendor management, and a variety of key external organizations. The District Case Management Supervisor primary objective is to reduce open inventory of claims, ensure effective management of employee’s treatment in work related injuries, and reduce overall costs. They will work closely with the insurance carrier, injured workers, defense counsel, as well as Client operations.
Job Duties -Travel will be required. Approximately 40 hours per week (able to work overtime as needed); must be flexible to travel to various locations (Small Pkg, SCS, & Freight). [Note: will be reimbursed for approved expenses following the Client Expense guidelines.]
Manage Worker’s Compensation Claims and Medical Networks
-Make On-Pay contacts within 1st 5 days of lost time and minimum monthly thereafter with employees.
-Contacts injured employees to discuss treatment plans and compensation processes.
-Responds to employee claims questions and treatment options available to ensure trust is maintained between the employee and Client.
-Contacts employees periodically on “return to work” status to ensure employees are progressing and receiving quality medical care and proper claims management from TPAs.
-Reviews treatment plans with medical professionals to ensure expedited and appropriate outcomes.
-Participate in weekly/monthly IMC calls with Occ Health and Health & Safety.
-Work with operations on any claim questions/issues and coordinate return to work/backend TAW.
-Lead and Coordinate monthly on-pay reviews with Small Pkg, Freight and SCS staff to maintain awareness of the number of employees out of work receiving workers’ compensation.
Coordinates and Manages Case Management Strategies
-Coordinates case management efforts between insurance carriers or third party administrators and the district to ensure claims are properly managed. Assist in investigations: provide personnel files, wage requests,
-Conducts strategy discussions with TPAs and insurance carriers to ensure claims are progressing towards resolution.
-Tracks progress on potentially fraudulent cases and subrogation issues to ensure costs are controlled. Coordinate with vendors.
-Provides assistance to legal counsel on discovery requests to ensure cases are properly defended.
-Reviews settlement requests from TPAs to ensure timely resolution of claims.
-Strategize with TPA on any necessary outside vendor assignments. Work with outside vendors on claim management.
-Prepares litigation reviews with defense counsel to ensure claims are positioned for effective resolution. Participates and attends depositions, settlement conferences, hearings, and trials on WC, auto, and general liability cases to ensure proper representation and support is provided.
Auto Liability Management/Incident Investigation
-Receive accident calls from field investigators, coordinate with defense counsel and TPA on accident investigations.
-Obtain accident documentation, assist in case preparation, and coordinate with vendors: employee files, telematics/download requests, training documentation, on-site vehicle inspections, route information, delivery
-Attend depositions, settlement conferences, mediations, hearings, and trials on auto, and general liability cases to ensure proper representation and support is provided.
-Participate in claim reviews with defense counsel and TPA to ensure proper case preparation and claim strategy.
-Reviews settlement requests from TPAs to ensure timely resolution of claims.
Job Requirements - Must be well versed in Workers Compensation laws, regulations, guidelines for assigned jurisdiction. Jurisdictional and procedural knowledge in Auto/General Liability by assigned states. Bachelor’s Degree - Required
