The SBA Business Development Officer is responsible for developing centers of influence and referral sources in order to solicit new SBA lending opportunities.



Responsibilities & Duties

Supports and exemplifies the Bank’s values and code of ethics.
Performs all functions in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, including
but not limited the Regulations, Credit Policies, Policies & Procedures, the SBA SOP, etc.
Has general knowledge of the SBA loan programs, products and services in order to act as an ambassador of the SBA Department
Ensure confidential, sensitive information and data of all customers, the bank, its customers, potential customers, and its employees is secured and/or disposed of in accordance with bank’s policy guidelines established by each business unit
Originate a sufficient volume of quality SBA & USDA Loans to meet established goals and objectives
Discuss loan requests with the SBA Manager to determine viability of loan request; Interview applicants and requests specified information for SBA loan application; requests credit reports, establishes eligibility, and other information pertinent to evaluation of loan application; gathers as mush information about the loan request and determines whether to submit to Credit Analyst rep to proceed with the application and approval process; and corresponds with or interviews applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information. Performs site visits and provides photos of collateral, as needed
Assist Credit Department and/or Lender Service Provider in collection of documents to complete the application & closing process
Determine what documentation is required in accordance with both loan size and collateral; Respond accurately to borrower/applicant questions regarding the necessity of required documentation
Forward all documents as appropriate to the back office, to be uploaded for review by any team member associated with the transaction
Maintain communication and relationship throughout the loan process
Provide branches with business customer documentation to assist with opening the new Business Checking/Savings accounts, if required
Attend Networking/Chamber events & identify referral sources (Centers of Influence) within market; prepare tracking system for follow up calls and reporting (complete Pipeline Report weekly)
Contact prospective borrowers when instructed by the branch team or Loan Officer to discuss SBA Loan Programs, products/services
Maintain communication with applicants throughout process
Keep track of referrals from branch staff and LOs, communicate/update referral sources throughout the process
Assist customers and employees with inquiries and information requests, and
resolve complaints relating to SBA loan products and services offered
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with our customers and our vendors (Merchant Services, Financial Services) to provide information
Coordinate & participate in department projects as directed by management
Attend all required SBA training, webinars, etc. to stay up to date on all product changes

Must have the ability to work independently
Must adhere to Dress Code and Code of Ethics
Must have professional verbal and communication, and writing skills
Must have professional presentation skills
