JOB DESCRIPTION:

PURPOSE:

Responsible for the overall sanitation of the Processing and Production areas according to established procedures, & standards and for the overall cleanliness of the entire building; sanitizes machines and other equipment as required. Cleans and maintains other areas of the building. Weighs and records scrap totals and variance on Visual Management (VM) boards. All other duties as assigned.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Functions-Packaging:
-Obtains Work Instruction from Lead or Supervisor and cleans floors, walls, and other areas and types of equipment and parts as necessary.
-Operates foaming equipment and high pressure washing systems according to Work Instructions.
-Handles cleaning chemicals according to MSDS and safe handling procedures.
-Utilizes push broom to sweep floors and remove standing water.
-Cleans debris from floor areas and disposes of properly, utilizing cleaned trash containers.
-Cleans assigned areas by collecting trash, including boxes, plastic, packets, damaged materials, damaged skids, bag ties, and other items and disposes of properly. This includes cleaning other areas as assigned.
-Replaces and handles all chemicals and chemical drums safely.
-Safely moves pallets or other equipment with the use of material handling equipment.
-Cross trains in other Sanitation Department areas.
-Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES:

-Minimum of six months experience in the food industry and/or sanitation.
-Knowledge of all production activities and equipment and working knowledge of quality standards for all products to ensure the safety and quality levels of the finished products.
-Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
-Must be able to identify, define, improvise and resolve spontaneously, quality, sanitation and technical problems.

Sensory Abilities: Explain if required

-Speaking
Speaking, hearing, and seeing necessary for safety reasons throughout plant area.

-Hearing
To hear building alarms, alerting signals from moving equipment, receive instructions, etc.

-Seeing
To be aware of moving equipment, locate products, load, unload, etc.

-Depth Perception
Depth perception needed to safely operate tow motor and climb ladders.

-Tactile Sensation
Needed to trouble shoot equipment, grasp boxes, manipulate office equipment/tools.

-Smelling
Needs to identify food and/or chemical odors

-Visual Acuity
To inspect machinery insuring compliance with Safety standards, to review and analyze reports and work orders.

Sanitation: will insure that the equipment and machinery he/she works with is cleaned and sanitized according to the Heinz Sanitation Program and rules explained at the beginning of the employment and during refreshing sessions.

QA: Insures all products manufactured comply with the Quality Assurance Program and policies reviewed during the on the job training applicable to this specific operation function.

Safety: will follow instructions delivered during the training that explained the fundamentals of the Heinz Safety Process and will keep himself and others away from harm while performing his/her duties.
