Job Summary

Experienced sales professional to lead all efforts originating robust pipeline of potentially financeable investment opportunities from law firms and in-house legal departments.

Commercial litigation finance is a rapidly growing new industry that combines capability to value commercial litigation cases and experience in making successful private equity investments decisions.

Veridis Management LLC (“Veridis”) manages an investment fund that invests in meritorious commercial litigation claims that can be reasonably valued from a litigation perspective as well as from an investment perspective. Veridis has already raised committed capital and is actively investing in a variety of cases. Veridis invests in individual claims or portfolios of claims, where the interests of the fund, litigants, and trial lawyers are aligned and there is a financial relationship that is beneficial for all.

Veridis seeks to add a key member of its team to lead origination. The Senior Director of Business Development (“SD”) will lead all efforts sourcing high-quality investment opportunities for Veridis. The SD will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer / Founder.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

This candidate must have at least 10 years of experience selling complex, large-ticket solutions that establish long-term contractual relationships with law firms and in-house legal departments.

The ideal candidate will have worked on all aspects of originations, including marketing, business development, all aspects of sales (lead generation, customer relationship management, closing, and up-selling) and ongoing customer service / account management. The candidate should have a working understanding of and a fluency with the basics of litigation and with the economics of the practice of law. It is preferred but not required that the candidate have a law degree and experience as a practicing litigator. It is similarly preferred but not required that the candidate have an existing familiarity with finance and investment concepts.

The candidate must have the ability to lead a small internal team and work collaboratively with clients and their counsel in evaluation litigation risk.

Minimum Requirements

• 10+ years of appropriate professional experience, including primary responsibility managing a sales team focused on the legal industry
• Extensive experience across the full cycle of sales, marketing, and business development
• A working understanding of and a fluency with the basics of litigation and with the economics of the practice of law
• An acceptable academic record
• A reputation for integrity and civility
• Enthusiasm for business and finance

Preferred Attributes

• A law degree (J.D.)
• Litigation experience
• Familiarity with concepts from finance and investment

Other Requirements

• Ability to multitask, and to "switch gears" quickly
• Team player who is collaborative and resourceful
• Comfortable dealing with all levels of personnel
• Relationships with high-quality lawyers specializing in diverse jurisdictions and areas of law who can assist in the evaluation of litigation risk
• Solution-oriented and client-oriented thinker
• Excellent communication skills with people of all different backgrounds

Compensation & Benefits
