Senior Research Fellow
<p><strong>Job Description:</strong></p><ul><li>As a Senior Research Fellow at IFF you will fulfill the strategic mission of the Delivery Material Technology group which is to drive consumer preference in our customer’s products. You will be part of a close-knit team conducting cutting edge research in the areas of encapsulation and delivery technology for flavors and fragrances supporting continued business growth at IFF. </li><li>The primary responsibility of the position is to develop novel encapsulation technologies that protect functional ingredients until their desired release while meeting the technical requirements of a given application. Activities will include the development of scientific approaches, conducting original research, which includes the preparation and analysis (physical, chemical, and performance), of new delivery systems (prototypes) as well as providing updates to senior R&D leadership and Business Unit Stakeholders.</li><li>This position will require development of an in-depth understanding of chemistry, material and polymer science as they relate to encapsulation, microencapsulation and other delivery systems. Prior experience in the encapsulation of hydrophobic materials is highly desirable.</li><li>We are seeking highly motivated candidates that clearly demonstrate technical expertise in encapsulation and/or delivery science. This position will require strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with a diverse group of colleagues throughout the organization and regularly present findings to a wide group of stakeholders at all levels.</li></ul><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Conducting original research in developing novel and proprietary fragrance and flavor delivery system</li><li>Developing technical approaches and project plans</li><li>Leading and or participating in complex technical projects supported by cross functional teams</li><li>Conducting bench-level experiments</li><li>Analyzing data, accurately document experiments, and proposing next steps</li><li>Identifying new materials and ingredients that can provide technical or competitive advantage.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>A Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry/Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of industrial experience.</li><li>10 + years of experience in technology areas related to encapsulation and delivery technology in flavor and fragrances</li><li>Demonstrated ability to conduct original and independent research as supported by publications or patent filings</li><li>Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems</li><li>Proven track record of success in bringing new technologies to commercialization</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills</li><li>Ability to work with global and technically diverse teams</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience and knowledge in microencapsulation and fragrance and/or flavor delivery systems</li><li>Experience in material, interfacial and colloidal Sciences</li><li>Research experience in physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, polymer chemistry, colloid chemistry, controlled release, and microencapsulation preferred</li></ul><p><strong>About IFF, Inc (International Flavors & Fragrances):</strong></p><p>We are a global leader in taste, scent, and nutrition, offering our customers a broader range of natural solutions and accelerating our growth strategy.
