This position will start out remotely but client will eventually be seeking someone onsite once Covid restrictions are lifted. This is a 12 month contract. Job Description: Our Client would like a Service Designer to help with researching, facilitating and designing a universal process to apply, onboard, maintain and offboard from all Economic Self-Sufficiency programs (ESSS). These include CalFresh, Medi-Cal, Welfare to Work, and the County Adult Assistance Program. More than 100,000 clients and 1,000 employees in at least five buildings are involved with this integration effort. The Service Designer would work with cross-functional teams, clients and community partners to improve service delivery experiences for both the public and employees. The Service Designer would support numerous sub-committees who will be mapping, guiding, and continuously improving this integration work across lobbies, phones and online experiences. The Service Designer would also work with HR involved in the hiring and training of current or new employees, Office of Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to champion equitable service experiences, Facilities to help with signage and lobby wayfinding, Communications for messaging and IT for the website and intranet, among other internal divisions. The Service Designer should have a strong background in design research with experience in remote and in-person facilitation as well as process improvement. They should have three or more years of experience working in an agile or equity-centered design practice that is values-centered, people-focused, iterative, experimental and measurable. Finally, the Service Designer should be familiar with wire-framing, designing proof of concepts and prototypes, and meeting digital and non-digital accessibility and usability standards. Responsibilities: Develop and implement service strategies. Research, analyze, write and report on the diverse needs of employees and the public. Facilitate, create and maintain service blueprint and process maps. Advise executives, managers and cross-functional teams as needed. Build capacity to continuously improve service delivery. Prepare programs for service delivery using a new, state-wide systems (CalSAWs). Manage projects as needed. Deliverables: Usable and accessible process maps and service design blueprints. Templates that teams across ESSS programs use for integration. Interview guides, protocols and informed consent letters for research. Project roadmap with a list of tasks and briefings as needed. Wireframes and mockups of digital and non-digital services. Content for the website and intranet. Experience/Qualifications: Developing and implementing user experience, design research and/or service design research. Creating low- and high-fidelity wireframes, personas, profiles, experience maps or service design blueprints and other relevant deliverables. Providing concise documentation / reports as needed. Using an iterative approach to develop and deploy new processes and/or websites. Required skills include: High emotional intelligence / reflexivity; Proven experience in the role as a design researcher or service designer; Excellent communication capabilities, including the ability to translate complex info into simple language, work well with diverse populations, and visualize findings simply and clearly; Excellent oral and interpersonal skill; Be team-and client-oriented, and self-directed when needed. Preferred experience and skills: Experience using an agile or other iterative approaches to design, develop and deploy digital and non-digital services. Google Analytics.
