This is an exciting opportunity to join the Capital Markets Risk team and provide support for managing market and counterparty credit risks stemming from the Capital Markets and Treasury investment activities that Northern Trust undertakes. This is a diverse, global team which has oversight of these activities in Chicago, London, Singapore and Melbourne. These activities include Securities Lending, Foreign Exchange, Repo, interest rate derivatives as well as Money Market and other Fixed Income investments. The role provides high visibility with the bank’s senior management team and opportunity for the right candidate to contribute and execute the bank's growing Capital Markets and Treasury investment activities. Our innovative integration of market risk and counterparty credit risk provides an opportunity for the incumbent to develop a broad and integrated understanding of both risk disciplines and would be an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in one of those areas to expand their horizons.

1. Engage with Capital Markets trading teams in consultative role to provide financial risk subject matter expertise while ensuring that trading activities meet risk and regulatory requirements. 
2. Support new product development and implement new processes to monitor from a market and credit risk perspective. 
3. Co-developing risk mitigation strategies and action plans address highest priority risks
4. Synthesize risk data into meaningful reporting, tailored to various audiences and levels in the organization and present to partners and senior management. 
5. Effectively build positive relationships across the team, from senior management to junior staff, and work collaboratively with business and risk partners globally in order to influence results and deliver tangible value.

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of Capital Markets products such as Foreign Exchange, Securities Lending, Money Market and Fixed Income securities is preferred
• Knowledge of Murex MX.3 or other risks systems as well as Cognos reporting tools is preferred but not required.
• Risk system implementation experience is a plus.

Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree and/or risk certification are preferred. Financial support for CFA candidates is available.
• 5+ years of experience in financial services, preferably including Capital Markets activities.
• Familiarity with Risk Management or Analysis and Financial Reporting, preferred.
