Cortech is seeking a Scientist.


Job Description
The Biologics Discovery organization is seeking a skilled protein biochemist to perform independent antibody and enzyme engineering projects. The ideal candidate must have experience with recombinant protein expression and purification, enzyme assay design and execution, and must demonstrate strong communication skills. Experience in laboratory automation is desirable.


Primary Responsibilities
•Position requires expertise in molecular biology to conceive, plan, design and conduct advanced independent protein engineering research.
•Design experiments and interpret results with a solid understanding of enzyme and binding kinetics.
•Design experiments, author protocols, and introduce new technologies. Investigate and develop new procedures.
•May act as project leader and provide technical direction and feedback to others. Interact with other groups and share information. Participate in team activities. Train other scientists.
•Designs and conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets, results and draws conclusions. Evaluates data using analytical methodologies to achieve results. Recommends options for future experiments. Presents scientific observations to others. Trains lower-level scientists.
•Expertise and Problem Solving: Identifies technical alternatives. Utilizes multiple analytical
instruments. Anticipates, recognizes and resolves technical problems.
•Project Planning: Participates in project planning, updates and process improvements. Implements project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility and regulatory
requirements.
•Translates top-level goals to specific project level goals for individual team members. Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects or activities. Plans resource allocation and distribution.
•Lab Safety: Participates in lab safety.
•Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to
established guidelines

Minimum Qualifications
•Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry with 2+ years research or industrial experience; or
M.S. degree with research experience sufficient to demonstrate equivalency
