Tax Specialist
Pay Rate: $35/HR

Cortech is seeking a Tax specialist in New York, NY.


Education
--Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other business discipline (Master's Degree or CPA license is preferred).

Required Work Experience
--Five to eight years of accounting and/or general tax compliance related experience. property tax is preferred.
--Strong technical background in GAAP Accounting for Property Taxes.
--Familiarity with ERP systems. Oracle: Oracle BI -
--Business Intelligence applications and Oracle EBS -
--Finance Supply Chain System, preferred.
--Familiarity in property tax accounting software, PowerPlan-Property Tax preferred.
--Familiarity with the NYC Department of Finance's Property Tax Public Access Web Portal, preferred.
--Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
--Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting accounting system data in excel for tax and financial reporting.
--Proficiency in efficiently cleansing, joining, and parsing data in excel.
--Excellent project management skills: flexibility and the ability to multi-task and execute timely deliverables while working under aggressive timelines in multiple tax jurisdictions.
--Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and sound judgment while providing quality customer service.
--Excellent presentation, facilitation, and oral and written communication skills.
--Professional demeanor, confidence dealing with all levels of management and other Company personnel and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.

Core Responsibilities
--Prepare property tax payments for various local municipalities in New York State.
--Prepare the property tax accrual, journal entries and related supporting work papers.
--Prepares tax returns and supporting work papers.
--Initiate property tax grievances and participate and support the Company's efforts to settle and/or litigate those grievances.
--Support the preparation of tax schedules for the SEC, FERC, PSC and other regulatory filings.
--Supports the Company's legislation and litigation matters.
--Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.
--Maintain good corporate relations with and respond to inquiries on taxes from external and internal stakeholders.
