Summary

The Technical writer is required to collate information from various sources and utilize best-practice documentation development approaches to create, evolve and publish finished articles. Such articles may include but are not limited to: Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions, Guidance Documents, Forms and Templates, Web-Content and Training Materials.

Primary responsibilities

· Consult with technical, project and quality staff to establish the scope, intent, audience, content and nature of articles to be developed.

· Gather information on topics from various sources.

· Interpret and explain scientific and technical ideas in simple but accurate language.

· Author content at a level consistent with nature of document to be produced.

· Write clear and concise policies and procedures.

· Create process maps and flowcharts, charts graphs and forms as needed.

· Submit copies to managers for feedback.

· Adjust copy as necessary and proof read for grammar and spelling.

· Release documents following approval and document control procedures when applicable.

· Author web content.

· Observe Gilead documentation standards and controls.

Requirement

· Proven working experience (2 years plus) in technical writing of IT related documentation

· Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.

· Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.

· Excellent written skills in English.

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

· Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software development. (‘agile’ familiarity and advantage).

· University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred.

· Experience with developing process maps and flowcharts.

· Knowledge of web, HTML and SharePoint is an advantage.
