Job Description:
The Academic Advisor reports to the Executive Director of Library & Student Support Services and is chiefly responsible for providing guidance and support for first-year students enrolled at Louisiana State University at Eunice enrolled in online programs through LSUO. The purpose of this position is to support students holistically by ensuring that best practices in student advising, career and academic coaching are followed, and working as a part of a supportive team in the Integrated Learning Center.

Job Responsibilities:
70% ADVISING -Service incoming freshmen in the following ways: assist students in choosing the appropriate program and/or major and scheduling of courses; recommend courses of action for students seeking academic guidance; maintain student advising records; and uphold the policies and procedures of the University as related to advisory duties.
25% COACHING -Service all students in the following ways: assist students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success; work with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivate students to take ownership of their academic success; assist students with preparations for effective job searching including feedback on resumes and strategizing for a successful job interview.
5% Other duties as assigned.
$30,000.00-$34,000.00
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors with 2 years experience in admissions, advising, retention, and/or teaching experience in higher education is preferred.

Special Instructions:
Schedule will vary based on departmental needs to include evenings and occasional weekends.
