Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Access Associate - Full Time Days 8AM-4PM; Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday - Patient Access. Responsibilities Interview the patient to obtain necessary identification information and prepare the required forms for treatment, billing, or record release authorization. Apply ID bands to patients following the two-identifier rule and interact with insurance companies for notification or information as needed. Educate patients about Advance Directives and Charity Care when necessary and perform other clerical duties as needed. Represent the Emergency Department, Pre Surgical Testing, Bed-board, Central Registration, Radiology, Women Imaging, Bellport Primary, Wound Care sites, Nursing and other ancillary areas, serving as a liaison between patients and staff by entering arriving patients into the computer system to facilitate processing and throughput. Assist departments with projects and various duties deemed by Management staff. Ensure documentation is accurate, complete and signed as appropriate for the registration type (including obtaining signatures or documented explanations when signatures cannot be obtained). Enter admissions, tests and orders into the computer system and coordinate with departments to support patient flow and bed placement. Collect copayments and deductions, record payments, balance daily receipts, and ensure end-of-shift close-out is completed. Provide excellent customer service, maintain professional communication with patients, families, and staff, and participate in department meetings and performance improvement activities as required. Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Understanding of medical terminology. Prior customer service experience. Ability to learn quickly as technology and insurance requirements change. Basic computer and keyboarding skills. Ability to walk and stand in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. The salary range for the role is $44,908.50 - $44,908.50 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
