Overview The Accountant at Atlantic Eye is a critical role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our ophthalmology practice and our Surgery Center. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Accountant will manage all aspects of payroll, accounts payable, and financial analysis. This role requires a detail-oriented and strategic thinker who can contribute to the financial health and success of our practice. Responsibilities Policy Implementation: Create, implement, and update company accounting policies to comply with all rules and regulations. Expense Classification: Establish a comprehensive understanding of the practice's expenditures and their appropriate categorization. Vendor Communication: Communicate with vendors to ensure accuracy and timeliness of charges and payments. Financial Reporting: Create and present reports on the practice’s financial performance; prepare monthly P&Ls with variance reports, and annual financial reports. Budgeting and Forecasting: Create and maintain the practice’s budgets and forecasts for the company’s operations. Financial Analysis: Analyze and interpret financial information to make recommendations for improving the practice’s financial performance. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure adequate funding for operations and growth. Transaction Records: Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions; ensure compliance with legal requirements. General Ledger Management: Balance the general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries. Report Preparation: Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Legal Compliance: Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions. Payroll Management: Oversee and manage payroll processes. Payments Processing: Handle the processing of payments. Tax Reporting: Manage sales tax and 1099 reporting. Transaction Analysis: Perform analysis and reconciliation of daily transactions. 401(k) Administration: Serve as the 401(k) plan administrator. Year-End Collaboration: Work with an outside accountant on year-end tax returns. Bank Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. Inventory Analysis: Review and analyze daily inventories. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have experience with QuickBooks Desktop. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft applications. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors and team members.
