Bachelor's degree in Accounting and two years of accounting experience; OR Bachelor's degree to include 9 semester credits in Accounting and two years of accounting experience; OR four years of additional accounting work experience and two years of college coursework are required.

This is a professional supervisory position responsible for overseeing the countywide operations of the Unclaimed Property, Reporting & Compliance Unit within the Accounts Payable Section. This position of oversees the preparation of unclaimed property reports and their submission to different States; the preparation of different performance and Statistical reports such as Performance Measures, Timeliness of Payment, Public Records requests and any other statistical data upon request; reviewing and reconciling transactions performed by the Special Services, Travel and P-Card units to ensure proper accounting postings, compliance with established business process, and the effectiveness with check and balances in place. This Accountant 3 will also be assigned other AP functions which includes but are not limited to: vouchers for AP related payments and county-wide thresholds are approved timely; processing the pay cycles of the Special Services, P-Card and the Travel Units; preparation of journal entries and/or adjustments as needed; and identifying areas in need of improvement to suggest changes of business process and/or policies to management. In addition, the incumbent in this position is responsible for the supervision of an Account Payable Compliance Specialist and an Accountant 1 assuring that assignments are carried out adequately and timely.
